Do you know why he didn't play yesterday for Jukurit?
i do not.

edit : it seems he has either some illness, or minor injury
he could play it seems, but not 100%.

I think its like this, play-offs coming next month, would be stupid
to risk your best player getting injured, if the player feels
that he isn't absolutely OK.

I think it was just precaution thing, i bet he plays in his next game

He injured his shoulder in the previous game, you can see the video here. If the website allows viewers outside Finland.

He claimed to be just fine in the post game interview so most likely just precautionary as mentioned.

Huuhtanen has been a huge disappointment in Liiga playoffs. Non-factor. Too slow. I don't think his skating will be good enough for NHL.

His skating has definately stood out in a negative way in the playoffs. If this is his usual level of play (no injury), then I'd categorize him as a mildly agitating PP specialist.

Terrible playoffs for Huuhtanen. So slow. I don't think his skating will ever be good enough for NHL.

Its not a skating issue, with a little bit of eye test, easily can see the reality.
Its a huge stamina issue, i could see that already in game 1 of the play-offs.

1st period, dude was flying on the ice, had 5 hits, skated really well
2nd period, okay period but, you could see that his shape wasn't there
3rd period, so gassed out, could barely skate.

I saw similar games in the end of regular season too.

His skating will be more than adequate at NHL level, no worries there
I am worried about his stamina - maybe he needs to loose some weight

He needs to fix his physique, needs to increase his stamina, lots

Skill, shot, physical style of play, PP threat.
- for sure top 6 forward spot in the NHL, as an skilled power forward

but if he can't play even half the season, because he is gassed out... no bueno

Dude, he's turning 21 in June. Plenty of time to develop his skating.
Might be just too much to fix. His skating got really exposed in playoffs. Slow, clunky, falls down easily, gets gassed easily. I understand now why he was the last pick of the draft. That skating is a massive weakness. It's a shame. If Huuhtanen knew how to skate, he would be an amazing player.

He is going to have to learn how to fight guys his own size if he plans to play like this in the AHL.

Dropping the gloves and going after Paaso who is 170cm on skates was embarassing.

If he can't skate he's in big trouble, now that bottom 6 guys need to skate. Maybe it can get good enough that he can play on the 4th line + PP?
