This guy continues to be an under rated prospect. I've seen lists that don't even have him as a top 10 prospect for the Leafs, which is crazy.
Has there been any update to his contract status with Metallurg since this?
Also are Toronto allowed to actively negotiate with him while hes currently playing for Metallurg (if he is in fact on an expiring deal)? Or do they have to wait until the KHL season is over before they are even allowed to negotiate?
What's is your analysis based on if you don't mind me asking ? His game and stats seem like he translates well to an NHL game.He has a long way to go to the NHL. While still a great get at the 5th round, this season reinforces his status as a B-grade prospect who still has a lot of work to do to carve himself out a role in the NHL.
He has played at ppg pace since early December. Have you been watching him last couple months? This answer is just so generic and pessimistic. Sure….he has a lot of work to do and he isn’t gunna be Sydney Crosby. You even realize he had one of the best seasons ever in his age group last year? Maybe I am more optimistic but at this point he surely has cemented himself as more likely an nhler than not an nhler. Which imho makes him a fantastic prospect to watch and be excited to see what he grows into.He has a long way to go to the NHL. By watching him play, isn't that what most opinions are based on? "His stats seem like he translates well to an NHL game" - I mean, come on.What's is your analysis based on if you don't mind me asking ? His game and stats seem like he translates well to an NHL game.
He is better than many other players picked before him, there's a difference.I think his game translates to NHL better than many other Russians who were picked before him
PPG last few months, huh? Yes. And Kravtsov had the best goal share on his team by any Russian prospect if you look the right way.You even realize he had one of the best seasons ever in his age group last year?
Atleast you've seen him play and have given your personal evaluation and opinion. I may disagree but your analysis is atleast not baseless.By watching him play, isn't that what most opinions are based on? "His stats seem like he translates well to an NHL game" - I mean, come on.

Yes, he had one of the best seasons ever in his age group last year, and that's exactly what led to him flirting with the blue-chip prospect status in many people's minds, me included. But the truth is, people start to have massive confirmation bias after such statement season, just like in Kravtsov's example before, just like in the cases of many other prospects.
He is an opportunistic offensive winger at this point. Still very slight, despite of his height. Not much of a cycle player. Not exactly a two-way specialist like Mikheyev. And to me, he either has to become one or the other because the way he is now, that's the type of player that have it the hardest to force their way into the NHL lineup.
And even talking about his stats, I would share your enthusiasm if he would have kept up his scoring this season to at least Gritsyukian (another 5th-round pick from Russia) U21 levels - 0,7-0,8 PPG. But the comparables for his scoring pace this season is very much hit-or-miss in terms of the NHL potential. And this is the guy to whom the offense is his calling card.
Last season was last season and this one is this, time to reevaluate things instead of having something stuck in your head. He has certainly put himself on the map and he will stay there, unlike many 5th rounders, but "more likely an nhler than not an nhler" is a far too brave a statement to me. NHL is tough.
How do you know by what he posted he’s seen him play at all I got nothing from his postAtleast you've seen him play and have given your personal evaluation and opinion. I may disagree but your analysis is atleast not baseless.
