F Macklin Celebrini - No longer in college. Playing for Sharks (2024, 1st, SJS)

I have to say that Macklin is an incredibly patient player and I'm not used to seeing that with 1OA caliber players. He does create plays and finds excellent angles for attack. But I don't see him forcing the issue like MacKinnon to find lanes and open zones for attack. He doesn't strike me as a predator in the weeds like Ovechkin. He will wait and let the play develop only to finesse the puck and throw it exactly where it needs to go, whether that's to a linemate or the back of the net.

He truly is an exceptionally talented and efficient player. Those were what stuck out to me when I saw him play against Maine last week. He's a unique talent, that's for sure.

Very deserving player of 1oa, not trying to crap on Laff but celebrini uas that dynamism and it factor that Alexis didn't have

I don't think it would be shocking at all if he stayed depending on the team
He doesnt get thrown to the wolves on an absolute TRASH roster say San Jose wins,
He would be a 10.2C RFA which means nobody can offer sheet him and he still burns a year as if he was in the NHL. He gets $200k in bonuses within a few months of each other after leaving school. That is the best of both worlds if he goes to a trash roster.
Chicago would be a different story, he goes right on that roster.

He may go to the NHL and probably will, but it wouldn't be shocking to me if he didn't considering his dad speaking on education being a team doctor for Golden State Warriors who is one of the organizations that preaches patience in development and thats the reason he chose the Chicago Steel for education and development.
Plus if it is the Chicago Steel 95% chance his advisor is Pat Brisson who is on the board of the steel and he told Power, Luke Hughes, Beniers, and Kent Johnson to stay in University and go to 10.2c Status
he is on record saying he wants to play with his best friend, which could be the best show on Ice.
so it wouldn't be shocking to me depending on the team and that offseason.

So much hype for last year's players everyone was focused on the 23 draft prospects since 22 they with Bedard and michkov getting recognition since 21 even now 23 prospects are getting lots of attention but celebrini will end up with 3-4 pages maybe even 5 by draft time franchise changing level prospect in the mack/hughes/matthews tier

I'm not convinced he lights up the U20s like Bedard did last year. but would be thrilled to be wrong. I'm thinking 12-15 pts. would be tremendous. FYI. I'm usually not wrong on my player evals.

It's not with a hard C, it's the same C sound in celebrate as it is for Celebrini. There are numerous interviews with him where he is introduced with the soft C pronunciation, I haven't found anything with a hard C.

The MacKinnon comp doesn’t fit, as I see it. MacKinnon is more flashy and brute athleticism and power. Celebrini has the small details down to a degree MacKinnon didn’t at the same age. He’s probably going to be a 1C. I think though that you aren’t getting like a future Art Ross winner. It’s probably something like better Toews or better Hischier or Bergeron with slightly more offense and slightly less defense.

He’ll probably go first, although I think it’s not the lock it was for a Bedard. It’ll depend on who has the first pick and team needs. Regardless, I think he’s a better player than Fantilli and Carlsson, but worse than Bedard and Michkov. If you are Canadian or a fan of the team that drafts him, you should probably be excited. I have heard a scout compare him to a modern day Adam Oates. Hockey sense and vision that is just not teachable. Thats the type of player that will make absolutely everyone around him better in every way while providing high end offense. Statistically he seems like a much better goal scorer, but maybe it was more built on the skillset of the two players.
