Ironically, Montreal could've had all 3.
That's like having 3 of the top 10 future players in the league as Montreal's core. Crazy.

I can understand why that's difficult to deal with.

I won't speculate on the why/why not of the Habs pick at #5 (as they obviously don't have an issue with offensively talented Russians) but I wouldn't be so quick to discount a recently turned 20 RD in Reinbacher.

Glad Michkov is working out for Philly but we need to see a healthy and properly integrated version of Reinbacher before making any real judgment.

I love Michkov. Have always been a huge fan. To me he was the clear BPA at #5. Philly hit a home run on him. But… since we missed out on him, Patrik Laine and Demidov have landed on our lap. Plus we have Caufield. He’s made redundant. Teams have a cap ceiling. Obviously, if we were the Islanders and had passed on Michkov we would rightly hear about it in 50 years.

He is the top player in points / 60 in the entire KHL with minimal PP time. The gap between him and the second 2nd highest player is the same as the gap between the 2nd highest and 13th highest (0.42). He is also +21 this year. He is looking very strong

Habs have landed their guy

This much is clear

Imagine the Jackets taking him, they already have marchanko, voronkov, chinakhov and provorov all top 6, top 4. That alone could help some of those guys stick to that market instead of leaving the first chance they have

Oh well

I think all of those guys together will help them stick and keep Columbus moving in the right direction

"Yeah he's amazing but that's against junior competition, the KHL is a whole notha level"

Anyone else notice the uptick in time and performance since the Montreal brass visit?

I doubt Montreal had any influence. His rise in TOI corresponds to current injuries and the Glotov trade. I mean SKA's is currently reduced to dressing guys like Polyakov and Korotky.

Either way, Demidov is taking advantage and then some. Good for him. He's amazing.

I'd say, it's been 5 games and the lowest TOI he's had in that span is today's 14:49 while others were over 18 mins. He's got 10 pts in those 5 gms. But it just shows how stupid the coach is, he's got 31 pts and 30 of them have come when he's played 9:14 or more, but in 11 games that he's had under 9:14 he's got 1 pt.

The other huge thing is the PP, for about 2 months he barely saw the PP so his ave PP TOI dropped as low as :29 per game but now he's getting steady PP time in these last 5 games so his ave is up to :41 before today's game where he got 2:22

And of course Rotenberg will use it to promote himself and SKA's development methods.

"I bring prospects along very slowly and it works. Look at Demidov. Trust the system!"
