Price was no superstar in my eyes, he had a very inconsistant trajectory. We have seen him be 60th in the league in some of the goalie stats, thats just unacceptable for a goalie who earned as much as he did.

There were always bad teams in front of him...

Lindstrom is going to be a great player, Him and Fantilli are going to be a force to be reckoned with soon. Probably close to a modern version of Kopitar and Carter.
I agree, I’m high on Lindstrom as well but his back injury scares me and I feel like even as good as he may be, I’m not one to pass on a Panarin-type playdriving winger.

That is actually crazy

If Price wasn’t a superstar then there are no superstars

Based on the fact the teams he had were a bottom 5 on ice product throughout most of his career , yet we still made the playoffs and even won some rounds with those rosters

So Huet played with superstars?
What about Theodore?
and Hackett?
I guess Halak was surrounded with superstars...

People who think Price was a superstar are on some generational copium

Based on the fact that he was one of the faces of the NHL for a decade

Ok you mean it as a rock star kind of a think, i thought we were talking about the on ice perfomances

None of those players did it for as long as price , if you wanna equate Price to Huet Theodore and Halak be my guest , but you have some of the most preposterous takes on this site so I'm not suprised you'll die on that hill

It’s both, he also has a Hart, Lindsay, Vezina, Olympic gold, WJC gold, and stellar playoff numbers

How could you possibly think Price isn’t a superstar but you think Demidov is generational and Philip Mesar is a #1C lmfao

Agree. We’d likely have Michkov and Buium, had things gone the other way. Even though I prefer Demidov over Michkov, I think I’d choose the combo of Michkov + Buium over Reinbacher + Demidov. Tough one. Reinbacher was just a terrible pick. At least that’s how it looks to me right now. Obviously, things could change, but I doubt it. Hated the Reinbacher pick from the start.
Obviously not a 1:1 regarding talent level, but I always thought the Reinbacher over Michkov draft has shades of the Flyers picking York over Caufield. York has been solid but passing on Caufield was rough at the time.

19 pts in 22 games while playing 11 mins/game with barely any PP time. This is crazy. He's close to being the KHL leading scorer. Like wtf ?

He's been playing around 16mins/game the last few games though. 7pts in his last 4gp

Also DeAngelo with 19pts in 14gp :D

None of these goalies played for that long, but combined as a whole they did better with less.

Halak got to the ECF, checked
Huet saved the habs year and made it to the playoffs
Theodore had the worst roster in the last 30 years and still won a hart and vezina

Hackett, well i just liked him as a goalie, he was doing good things with a terrible team. Im biased on this one.

Im not saying Price was all that terrible, i do see the years he surprised us and did great things. His rookie year was for a very long time his best year and that was something to be happy for.

2014 was a special year

2021 was long overdue but he at least made it.

In his 10 mil contract years he was just bad, he was allowing like 5 goals a night at some point. Overall too many ifs for my taste.

I rather have rotating goalies who give us some good moments and then f off into the distance once they're no good no more.

So you're saying if Demidov becomes generational and Mesar ends up playing 1st C that would validate my opinion about Price?

Idk, I liked York at draft time, and he’s turned out to be a pretty solid top-4 D. I never liked Reinbacher, and I have serious doubts about him. Now even more so than at the draft. You’re right though: the rationale in picking the D is the same in both cases though, as long as you believe the D will pan out.
