I don’t understand how this player made it past the second pick
Organizational need and prioritzing position.
A big minute logging 2-way RHD is very sought after. Montreal took Reinbacher over Michkov. Sometimes, safer is more popular. But for me, Sennecke and Lindstrom over him made no sense.

Anaheim often goes off the board. And considering Sennecke was expected to be a project and is having this type of D+1 season, I can still still see an argument.

Columbus already has a million skilled, small forwards. Johnson, Marchenko, Fantilli, Chinakhov, Brindley, etc.

Demidov may have the highest ceiling and most likely to become a superstar, but you still need to build a team. If you consistently draft BPA you end up in Buffalo's situation.

Doubt he'll be McDavid level so not generational, but I think he'll be a tier below. He has very real 100+ point potential.

Very exciting times for the Habs.

I mean

Let's define generational for this era

Multiple 120 plus seasons?

I'd love too

But besides McDavid these was no prospect I would have labeled generational in the past 10 years, call me picky

Recent history, for forwards, Imo

Gretzky
Lemieux
Jagr
Ovechkin
Crosby
McDavid

Is he generational now? Asking for some habs fans that are in denial
I mean, no he is absolutely not generational. Generational would mean he was putting up 100 pts in the nhl this season like McDavid and Crosby were.

He would need to win the AR next year to be considered a generational talent, which he won't. But he's certainly an elite talent who could be a 100 pt player in the future which is incredibly exciting as a habs fan

I'll tell you what, I'll give you this. From a strictly habs point of view he could possibly be considered generational, in the sense that the habs haven't had this type of prospect/player with this much potential and talent in literally generations. He most certainly could be a "franchise player" but that's as far as it goes.

As good as he is or could be, he does does not fit into the definition of that of a NHL generational player. That said he does have potential superstar written all over him.

Lots of good things to look forward to for habs fans.

Marchenko, Fantilli, and Chinakhov are small?
