I think it's safe to say that with the same deployment that Michkov had last year, Demidov would most likely set a record for D+1 KHL point totals. Unfortunately, he's not going to get the chance. It sucks, but such is life. I have no doubt that he's going to slot into Montreal's top 6 and be an immediate contributor, but I think I'm done wasting time watching SKA games.

He almost certainly would set a record. His p/60 is a good clip higher than michkovs (it's over on the Habs board) and thats not separating 5on5 vs PP time, in which michkov was given substantially more.

Absolute superstar

Maybe Demidov still has a chance and will be loaned after all. If it continues like this, 5 minutes per game. I mean
Btw, it seems like Rotenberg liked Demidov more than Michkov, as Ivan was higher in the depth chart at the beginning of the last season.

By Rotenbergs own words Michkov and Demidov had to fight through the season for one spot he had for a rookie on the game day roster. Of course to put Michkov in his place when he wasn’t happy with his treatment (like anyone in Russia including the media). As soon as Michkov was loaned, Demidov never saw a second with the big club again (probably also due to the fact that he didn't want to extend his contract). That’s all someone has to know about Rotenbergs coaching methods. And imo the main reason why Demidov didn’t ask to be loan last year was his brother who is playing for the same org.

Michkov played for the weakest team and with borderline KHL talent. Demidov is playing for SKA with borderline NHL talent. Galchenyuk was 0.69 ppg last season with SKA and is now 0.40 ppg with Amur. Khus was 0.65 ppg with SKA in 22/23 and 0.41 ppg the season after with Sochi. Michkov with Kuznetsov on his line would have been over PPG (even with Demidovs TOI).

My spies told me that St Petersburg hired Michael Therrien as coach and BargainBin as GM.

It explains a lot...

Michkov played on the line with Khusnutdinov and Tyanulin. Marat is in the NHL and Tyanulin is PPG right now. They had a very good line, defensemen mostly couldn't creat anything offensively but it's another topic.

Very good line lol… But whatever, what are you trying to say here? That Michkov had ~ the support in Sochi he would have had in SKA? No? So thanks for your comment.

Obviously is only that you never watched a second of Sochi……

Hopefully he can stay healthy, Habs luck with injuries to top picks and top prospects got me worried.

And last year Montreal fans thought michkov “got bench the first 2 games and didn’t make the team becuase he wasn’t good enough” LOL

RR is a awful coach who has in own agenda, I hope Montreal fans finally see that now

I doubt anyone that watched Michkov play said that he was loaned out twice because he wasn't good enough, the questions around him were never about a lack of skill.

Only the idiots who were massively trying to cope thought that lol unfortunately that was alot of people

I'm not sure what is the best vourse of action for Demidov. Dog it and stay safe for the season or actually try...and get benched.

I wouldn't be auprised if Demidov is subjected to semi Mafia like negotitions.

Towards the end of my career i consulted for a huge Canadian multinational in the building supply business. I was the technical/manufacturing expert and silent on negotiations with a huge Russian company. I was suprised how "old world" the discussions went. "Trust me" and "don't worry" was their prime negotiation position.

I would NOT be suprised if Demidov was offered a contract and extra helpings of "don't worry, we take care of you".

The faster we get him out of there, the better.

People keep making up stories.

Everybody knew Michkov was talented enough for the KHL last season.
Thank god for his development he was loaned out. I secretly wish the same for Demidov. Imagine being rookie of the year with 8 pts / 10 games on limited ice time just to play 4 minutes the next game. It will be a very long season for him but thank god he is out of the KHL next year.

This is completely false. Look back at the michkov thread a year ago and on Twitter, a lot of Montreal fans kept saying this.

Nonesense.
SKA eventually loaned/traded all of Michkov, Ivanov, Khusnutdinov, Buchelnikov, etc. to give them ice time.

If Demidov is scratched or receiving below 10 minutes a game my midseason, I expect the same treatment. Demidov is no different than any other high end talent who’s passed through the hands of Rotenberg.

Well going by Twitter is especially the first mistake. People are tribalistic, over reactionary and constantly fishing for interaction. Secondly, lots of Montreal fans is not what I would label as consensus nor have seen that discussion around here but again I do not follow all Michkov discussion. As I have said previously, some habs fan are stupid and will defend the management/club at every opportunities and will try to find anything possible to discredit Michkov and try proving that the management selecting Reinbacher was the right choice. It does not mean that what you claim is applicable to a majority of habs supporter and certainly not on this board at least personally I have not seen it.

should be sent down to the vhl and play on the first line there. but in that case rotenberg will lose a convenient scapegoat and his personal nhl pet project. habs fans have plenty of reasons to worry about. rotenber could easily mess up demidov's development.
