Do you understand that if they keep their position, he would not replace Caufield? He would replace Slaf because both play rw now
Look, as long as Slaf, Suzuki, and Demidov are on the same line, it doesn't matter who plays RW or LW between the two. Players as smart and talented as Demidov can play either side

In 6 months of waiting for the draft, I have never heard anyone say that Demidov would be stuck on the right wing because there was already Slafkovsky while he played left winger since he arrived in Finland until his first year in Montreal.

And why is that ? You cant just say its nonsense and provide zero arguments.

I think we would have a better PP if we let Caufield control and move the box instead of just isolating him for his shot. He has a great shot but too often it wasnt quality on the PP and just pure volume.

When people say a player is a pp specialist, they generally mean that the player is great on the powerplay, but doesn't provide much at even strength.

Since entering the NHL, Caufield has scored 81 goals and 149 pts.
Only 21 of those goals and 44 of those pts were on the pp.

His production coming from the pp is a lesser % than many star players in the nhl.

When I say that he can be used on the 2nd line and the numerical advantage it is to give him playing time. With more playing time at 5 vs 4 and less at 5 vs 5, he will score more at 5 vs 4 and less at 5 vs 5. Especially if he doesn't play on the 1st line next to the two best on the team.

Small guys like Caufield and Hutson must be prioritized over numerical advantages. There are just as many shorthanded minutes, and these minutes must be taken by those who are the best defenders. Slafkovsky, Suzuki, Dach must be able to play these minutes as fresh as possible.

12 minutes at 5 vs 5 against weaker lines, 3 minutes at 5 vs 4, Caufield will be more effective in his qualities and less handicapping in his weaknesses.

on the contrary, it seems after the draft the number of fans who are trying to bring him down a peg or two greatly increased.
Because there's been like 6 threads made about him since he was drafted 1.5 weeks ago.

Demidov vs Lindstrom
Potential of Ivan Demidov
Michkov vs Demidov
Iginla vs Demidov
Fantilli/Lindstrom vs Michkov/Demidov
Michkov and Yakemchuk vs Demidov and Reinbacher

Have all been created between June 28 and now. That also doesn't include this thread, or any of the debates in personal/board prospects rankings involving the player.

Demidov with Slafkovsky just doesn't make sense to me. They both have game-breaking talent so you have to play them on different lines to benefit the most from it.

That's not remotely true.

Mackinnon and Rantanen play together,
Matthews and Marner play together,
McDavid and Draisaitl play together, etc.

How dare they make threads about a prospect in the prospects section of the forum

I'm willing to try just about anything.

I want to start this season with Caufield and Dach as a pair and Suzuki and Slaf as a pair.

2024/25

Slaf - Suzuki - Roy
Newhook - Dach - Caufield

2025/26

Slaf - Suzuki - Demidov
UFA/Trade - Dach - Caufield
Newhook - Beck - Roy

We're lucky if Beck ends up as a 4th line center someday. No way he'll play as a 3rd center in 2025.

Beck was already one of our last cuts last camp i find the odds of him not being a 3rd line center very small hes a beast on faceoffs and a good 2 way center if u mean 2024-2025 maybe since we already have Dvorak and Evans but no way hes not a 3rd line center in the 2025-2026 season
