The irony is Risto could have been an effective winger
Rosen, Poltapov and Kisakov. This team could have done so much more with those picks.
Scored in OT but it was called back, then scored in the SO but Levi couldn't nail it down.
Technically Levi didn't let in the game winning SO goal either
- and -
Ostlund winning the puck battle on that one stands out too.
was there "movement"?????The Kisakov pick needs a grace. That was the Covid draft, so there’s gonna be a lot of movement based on where someone was drafted. There’s gonna be a lot of movement and questions.
But as far as Kisakov, there was a lot of perceived movement there. It just hasn’t worked out so far.
Dubas could definitely keep an eye on him. With last night's hat trick, he's now tied for 2nd in the AHL for primary points (31), and has moved up to 4th in goals. He too might be a guy another team considers near NHL ready.
going to write that one on your tombstone, eeh ?The irony is Risto could have been an effective winger
By the way, I'm not sure if there are such successful long-term position swaps, but I know how a player went from being a winger to a RD and now he plays in the NHL.going to write that one on your tombstone, eeh ?
What are your thoughts Chain @Chainshot ? You see alot of him, can he turn into a effective NHL'er ie De Brincat ? or will his size/frame hold him back ?With last night's hat trick, he's now tied for 2nd in the AHL for primary points (31), and has moved up to 4th in goals. Wing for EP40I wonder what the path forward is for him. He's got a couple of skills that really pop, especially of late, in how he has almost effortless burst to get around the corners of defenders and get separation and how quickly he gets the puck on net. He doesn't wind up for big shots, he takes more of a half-wind up or snapper and it's accurately away in a blink. But is he another scorer? They already have a heap of people ahead of him doing similar things. Is he a 2-way guy? I don't see DeBrincat, I get the Ehlers comps still but I'm just wondering where he fits even as he's moved from a "maybe this works out" to a "he deserves a chance, his play has been that good" player.
That was my complaint about Adams drafting. He didn't draft with a plan because we have too many forwards and no high end defensive prospects. It’s almost like they shouldn’t have sat on so many prospects knowing they couldn’t all get a chance
Sometimes you can get it for free or very cheap. That was my complaint about Adams drafting. He didn't draft with a plan because we have too many forwards and no high end defensive prospects.
That being said I hope Rosen gets a chance this year maybe near the end to see what he can do. The other problem is this team needs to be more physical and we seem to draft underweight forwards who are more finesse players.
I am not sure Rosen has enough value to get a top 4 RHD but that would be ideal. He needs to play in the NHL to see what he can do and his value.
I agree the past has proven that top 4 defenders have been traded for 2nd round picks and more than once.Sometimes you can get it for free or very cheap.
The problem is not even Malenstyn, but that Adams seems to have no idea how to build a team properly or there is something going on there, just contradictory information. There were rumors about Pesce (a suitable target for the top 4 RD), then there were rumors about Necas/Ehlers (top 6 forward, who we waited for 5 years). And I do not understand why Adams (Terry or both) decided not to add other players if they could not get Pesce and Necas/Ehlers. They should have a list of 20-30 players per position and work on each player, I just do not understand their actions, in this case, inaction.I agree the past has proven that top 4 defenders have been traded for 2nd round picks and more than once.
That being said with Adams trading a 2nd for Malenstyn I am not sure Adams can.

You know, Rosen probably has the same general questions at this point.I wonder what the path forward is for him.
