You're right, his playoffs were terrible, 12 points in 9 games is pathetic! He's a bust, should have gone in the 4th round, he's awful.
For a player of his caliber it's not very good. Doesn't mean he thinks Zadina is a bad prospect because we passed on him. Trust me, I don't think any knowledgable Habs fan is salty, even though Zadina is a great prospect.

Habs drafted on need
might as well have been picking 6 th or 7th

Fell on Detroits lap
And risk the yotes taking Kotkaniemi. Gotcha. Detroit got a great player, and he would actually be much better for them since they have Larkin and we would have had Danault.

I think Pacioretty's shot and production, isolated, is a very good comp for Zadina actually. However, they are different animals. Zadina brings more intensity, fire, personality and charisma to the ice. This doesn't make Pacioretty a bad player - because he's not - but he's a forward version of Jay Bouwmeester... very good player, but extremely low intensity, that often shows when it matters most (and not in a good way). There's few low-intensity players that I would want to go to battle with in a game 7.

I agree with this.

detroit lucked in with montreal and phoenix drafting more based on need

however, they both got great prospects

me thinks all three teams are happy
You guys didnt lucked in, you got a great prospect that was ranked around where you were picking.

Well, you kinda lucked out because Arizona picked Hayton and he didnt have anything to do with the top 5.

This sub is 10x better before prospects belong to teams. Holy crap are the narratives different in all of these threads already.

Kk... and now where was Kotkaniemi ranked? People act like he was ranked 12th. No, Mackenzie had him at 5 lol.

I agree that the subs are better before.

Kotkaniemi was a riser, while Zadina was a faller.

Reasons behind that? I don't know. But it is what it is.

Still, can we just be happy with the guy our respective team drafted and stop chirping each other?

So he was 5th on Bobby Macs ranking... ? So he wasnt actually a huge reach, and Zadina wasnt a huge faller?

So i was right all along

I guess 3 teams decided there was a discussion.

Him sniping a couple goals in development camp doesn't change that. It's what he's done all year against goalies of that caliber.

You can trade for high end goal scorers, you can’t trade for franchise centres. I think Montreal and Arizona both think they got that, if they did they won’t regret passing on him even if he scores 40 goals.

Kotkaniemi was a riser, for sure; but his final rankings range was very wide.

Zadina stayed at 3 on most charts for most of the season. The only place he fell was the draft itself, hence why people are calling him a steal at 6.

How many Red Wings fans do you see in Kotka's thread? It's Montreal's fans who are coming over here to tell us our prospect isn't that good, not the other way around.

Bobby macs ranking is probably the most accurate one. 5th and 4th average is closer to reality.

His stock was falling pre draft, don't kid yourself. He was pretty much a sure thing at 3 for the majority of the season. By the end of the year, especially the last 2-3 months prior to the draft, it was known that he should/could fell at the draft.
