Can anyone comment on what this player does well? Is he just putting up points in the KHL like a lot of people do or does he have skills that can translate to the NHL? Is he fast? Good hockey IQ?

He's not a speedster but he's not slow either, he should be fast enough for it not to be a liability IMO. His main assets are hockey IQ, vision and hands. He seems to be able to make quick reads and smart plays without a lot of time or space which should translate well to the NHL.

It's from 2020 while he was still in the MHL but Yannick St-Pierre's draft video of him gives a pretty good idea of what he does well

At 24, he will be more ready for the NHL than at 22. I think he consulted with the Jets in making this decision.

Will be 25? At the end of this contract. Either ready to step in to the NHL or not. If he came over for next season he'd 100% start in the AHL. Could be a wide open roster in 2 years.

I’m assuming that his KHL Salary over the next two years will be higher than his AHL salary, but he could also have compelling family, or other reasons to stay in Russia. Frustrating for the Jets, for sure.

He is probably making over a million tax free. So way more. That would be like making 2.2 million in the nhl with escrow for his take home.

I have read on many occasions that the “tax free” thing isn’t true and maybe never has been true. But I’m sure some more knowledgeable posters will chime in on that.

The income tax is 13%, so while technically it is not tax free, comparing to the NHL it is.

It's absolutely true.lol It's not completely free but it's less than 15% so compared to North America it's not remotely close. Takes 5 seconds to Google.it to understand.

KHL tax is 13% flat. Taxes in NHL can be as high as 45-50% + escrow. But then there's KHL bonuses too which are off the books.

Very roughly speaking, just double the amount of a KHL contract to get its NHL equivalent in terms of take home pay.

30 million rubles or 420 thousand dollars if he can exchange at the official rate.
That's a bit more than the $70K he'd likely be making riding the bus in the AHL. I think if he'd sign with the Jets at the end of the KHL's 24/25 season he would burn the 1 year ELC whether he played in the NHL or not and could negotiate a 1-way (or more generous 2-way) contract from there. I can't blame the guy for arranging his time in the KHL to bypass the NHL's rigid ELC rules if that's his plan.
