He plays center, he scores goals and points, he's solid on the dot. To me it's pretty legit. He's 20 in 3 weeks, so I hope he will start next season centering Kaprizov.
It might take a while to get there, but if they click, they click. Rossi has been vg this year, and JEE is a vg center. I'd be surprised if Yurov was better than either right off the bat.

Looks like he’s really starting to take off. Still playing center? What’s your comparable / what’s his upside?

I actually haven't watched any of his games this seaso so it's just a stat watching and nothing more. It could be easier to answer the question after two successful seasons, but I'm afraid there won't be another KHL season for him.

Interesting that this guy gets almost no hype compared to let's say Michkov. Yurov is actually having a better season IMO. Michkov is good, but he is playing for a farm team, Yurov is a top player on a contender.

Sochi isn't a farm this season. Lada actually is... And you're so wrong that I'm too lazy to explain your countless bad takes...

Not an apples to apples comparison. Yurov is a year older(22 pick), Michkov a 23 pick. Last year Yurov had 12 points in 60 odd gp, while Michkov has 20 pts. in 27gp. While there is an explanation for Yurov's low point total last year(minuscule TOI), Michkov's point totals clearly are better in their respective D+1 years.

The entire purpose of the post was to crap on Michkov. Yurov was the means to do it.
The post adds nothing of value in terms of discussing Yurov.
It's just trolling once to see past the poster's shtick.

It’s not crapping on Michkov, it’s pointing out that he feels Yurov is under hyped and having a very good season. Reminder that you are in the Yurov topic not any of the multiple Michkov topics. And he is having a very solid season production wise while changing positions to a center.

Stylistically - what can we expect from Yurov? He looks a bit like a lankier Rantanen to me but admittedly I haven’t been able to watch him enough.

I think, he has one of the most impressive seasons in recent history for players of his age.

One important note. Yurov plays for Metallurg, it is a top team. Michkov plays for Sochi, which is a farm team to SKA. It is much harder to make an impact for Metallurg than for Sochi, its a fact. And this makes Yurov's season so impressive, not point totals

Oh well, I'm expecting a lot enough to not talk about it... If seriously, if he becomes a PPG offensive center in NHL, it won't surprise me.

I've seen a period or two and his highlights - how is he away from puck or along the boards? Is he physically strong/filled out enough to jump into the NHL next year, or do you think he will spend time in the AHL? I am not implying AHL>KHL, but since it appears he is coming over, I am curious if his body will be ready for the NHL.

I haven't actually watched him enough to say anything, but I think there is a chance he plays in NHL this season. If his team outs the play-offs early enough and Minnesota still plays or even makes the playoffs, he'll come for sure.

Maybe if Iowa makes the playoffs and the Wild don't he'll play in AHL.

Why do players do this? Is it the money?

Well, maybe Yurov isn't confident enough he'll be able to make the Wild next season, and there is no point to play in AHL for him. Maybe it's conditional, like if he doesn't make the Wild he'll get back to KHL, and he obviously can't play in KHL without contract. Who knows.

Why would Minnesota fans be upset, assuming it’s only a 1 year extension, 2 years max? This is perfect development for Yurov, getting consistent solid minutes on a strong balanced team. Last year he barely got any minutes, this is the first season that he’s been given a real shot.
