The thing is, the best parts of his game are his ethic, tenacity, drive, and the way he dictates the game--if we pressured-- and makes a game changing shift to swing momentum. The points are just a bonus.

I know this is a corny thing to say.. but those exact reasons are why he was the perfect player for Ottawa. The entire franchise was at a low point. They had to trade their franchise player. No one wants to play for them. I bet no draft prospect on the planet wants to Then this kid comes in and is just bringing it every shift, every night. He’s bought in to being a Senator despite all the crap. Not many 19 year old kids can be the focal point for a culture shift, Tkachuk is. It’s impressive.

agreed wholeheartedly.

I am not saying he is the savior of the franchise, but I cannot see another kid available at that spot that could step in, have an impact like he has with that "I don't give a f***" attitude the Tkachuks have (in a good way mind you, these kids just want to be good players and teammates, they don't care about their surroundings and what is going on).

Ottawa got the perfect player at the perfect time for them..they needed this kid and he has been a breath of fresh air. They are smiling over there, winning games as well, the future doesn't look as bleak as it did just months ago. He is one of the main reasons for it. Ottawa isn't a laughing stock like many HF posters thought they would be and even some of their fans felt they would be. Tkachuk can't be the owner or GM, so there is still issues there lol...but overall what he has brought to the team has been a revelation. If he stays healthy the rest of the year I have very little doubt that he can challenge for the Calder.

The 4 game losing streak begs to differ. They suck. Ownership and management has delivered a terrible team to us.

it is a 4 game losing streak not a 20 game losing streak. plenty of other teams worse off then the Sens or right there with you guys including my Hawks...very few would have bet the Sens wouldn't be the worst team in the league at this point..long way to go, scoring goals isnt the issue, getting better play in the defensive zone has been - gotta shore that shit up.

Tkachuk being an excellent NHLer and the Sens being a terrible franchise don’t have to necessarily cancel each other out. Both concepts can and do exist.

I agree, if Stone stays, Tkachuk might legit be the biggest reason. Dorion got so lucky that a Tkachuk type player was available when he was at the time he was. Seeing his impact now, it's clear why Tkachuk was without a doubt Ottawa's top choice the entire time(for those potentially available at 3).

8 goals in 40 NCAA Games
9 goals in 13 NHL games

insane how things work sometimes. I doubted him because of 8 goals in 40. leafs93 knew his stuff. It's not like he's a beautiful player too or anything. Best player in his draft so far.

Mother of God this kid is a monster.

2 goals in the third to tie the game (plus 1 assist).

Lol at the Canucks fans saying the Calder was all but wrapped up after 15 games.

that was Jeremy Roenick and some non Canuck fans, and some Canuck fans :)

Man this kids impressive. His goals are completely different than Petterson’s as well. Those are hard working playoff type goals. I think Montreal would pick him in a re draft for sure.

It’s scary too because he’s only going to get bigger. He’s got a massive frame.

Yeah, absolutely. Kotkaniemi's okay, but Tkachuk is miles better.

Great pick by OTT, even better that they passed on Zadina. Tkachuk is going to be a beast in this league for years to come.

what a blend of skill, power, iq and sheer willpower to make an impact on the game

definitely underrated him. ill happily take the L
