Guy is slow to start year coming off a pandemic where he hasn’t played in ten months = BUST. Guy is hot last six games and you hear “that goal isn’t anything to be excited about.” LOL. The thing about Lafreniere and what scouts raved about was his ability to score and play-make from anywhere. That’s a greasy goal.

Jus an update Lafreniere cannot, I repeat CANNOT go to the A. If he were to be sent down he'd need to go to the Q because hes under 20. If it did happen like that he'd need to Quarantine for 2 weeks.

LOL. It's just funny seeing that as his means of scoring with all his highlighted troubles, poor guy

Hockey is one of those sports where luck plays a significant factor in box score stats. Sometimes you make a great play, and the goalie makes a better save. Sometimes the puck goes off your leg, and you know nothing about it. At the end of the season, they usually all even out. They all count the same.

Lafreniere isn't having highlighted troubles. Rangers fans have tried to explain that he's playing well enough, but he was lacking any type of luck. His on ice SH% was 1-2% for a long time, which is unsustainably low for any player. Now he's getting some luck for it all to even out. His on ice SH% is still low. It's now hovering in the 5% range. He's likely due a few more points like this before it's all evened out, as some of us said would happen.

It's not fair to him to act like this is a fluke, but when he was getting terribly unlucky that he was playing poorly. If he deserves criticism for lacking box-score stats when he deserved them, he should get credit for box score stats when they are a little luckier.

I'm old enough to remember Joe Thornton's rookie year. He was raw as hell.

Just takes time sometimes

First 15 games - 1 pt.

Last 6 games - 6 pts, 4 game pt streak.

Keep in mind he didn't really get much of a training camp, no exhibition etc. and was also unable to finish his final season of jr hockey. Now I certainly don't expect him to go ppg the rest of the way but the guy is way too skilled to not figure it out sooner or later. Honestly Panarin's absence may have sparked something in him, when the undisputed best player on your team is no longer with you, he might have seen it as both a challenge an opportunity to flourish.

Said it many times just relax, once he gets used to the speed, physicality etc.. he will be fine. Kid is starting to figure it out. 5 points in his last 5 games. He's just getting started. Not even a Ranger fan and know kids going to be a star. Envious as hell.

6 in his last 6 ;)
Edit: also just realized, every point he has this season has been primary

Hadn't played hockey since March. Anyone writing him off (most of this thread) are morons
