Quick and Petersen went 55-45% in 2021-22. I would expect something similar, could go the other way if Petersen plays well and/or Quick looks slower.

Quick went 23-22, although 3-4 in shootout, and Petersen went 20-16, 1-0 in shootout, so pretty even on that front. Leads me to think that the Kings will continue the platoon.

If Petersen can get it back together and take the #1 job then Quick, if he stays fit is a perfect number 2. He can play in rotation and be solid if not great if Petersen gets injured. If Quick goes then we need to replace him and whomever come in will cost a few million on the cap. So if they are happy he is in good shape physically and he’s obviously doesn’t want to retire I’d add 2 years but I’d let the season play out first.

Important not to overplay Quick and T MAc tends to do that with his top guys.
We saw what future HOF JQ can still do, seems to be over the injury bug for now.
Mike Smith is 40 and we saw what a goalie in that age range, can do against less than very top tier teams (CO Ava).

You dont trade quick ever unless he asks for it- Dudes the best Kings goalie ever and there is no close second. Kings brass will treat him like Brown, Kopi and Doughty- and that means with total respect for what theyve accomplished for team. Quick may be able to play more seasons and I hope he can- but you dont just trade your legendary goalie.

Would like to think Quick can sign a team friendly 1 or 2 year extension if he has a good season.

You trade Quick if you are not making the playoffs and he wants to go to a contender. Then you resign him in the off season.
 
Don't understand why people would be hesitant to re-sign him unless he asks for some crazy amount of money. If he still wants to play 2 to 3 years at 2 to 3 million it seems more than fair to me. He could be the starter or a backup on that deal.

Couldn't be more clear after Cal last night. This poll is a grower if he doesn't pull out of the death spiral. We need to make plans for replacing him. Who will partner with Quick? First shot at it: Copley.

Best Kings goalie ever was Rogatien Vachon. Quick was good even great but Vachon was phenomenal. That said I would extend Quicker two years. That would put him at 38 1/2 years old when it expires

with all due respect...his last season with the Kings was 1978. Im guessing 50% of the people on this forum were born after 1978. Ill take the guy who led the Kings to two cups and actually saw play live multiple times.

Not a chance. Quick has played almost twice as many games, has more than twice as many wins, has a higher save percentage, a lower goals against average, almost twice as many shutouts, won two cups, and picked up a Conn Smythe. Vachon is an all time great, but Quick is LA’s GOAT in net.

This turned out to be a terrible idea and I own it. Mike McKenna's analysis of Quick and Peterson and their outdated styles, has set me free. At this point, I say, sign Copley immediately as his price is going up weekly and let Quick move on or retire. Quick searching for another 1a or 1b, because Cal may have to be in ONtario again next year if he does not improve on his next lookover with Kings. Bring Markstrom over from europe.
