Seth Jones has a no trade clause. Im sure with Bedard and new management he has very few teams he would waive to go to. Fewer teams if any that have the cap space. If it were a true open market they would not have to attach any assets with him and he would probably have some value himself.

whens that from?

Jones' contract is a boat anchor.

Nearly 67M left in it until he is 35.

The Hawks would have to give up multiple positive assets, take on high-dollar, bad asset contracts, retain a significant amount of Jones' contract, and get Jones to agree to a trade to a city willing to agree to all of the gymnastics to obtain him.

Finally, there is the downside risk that the play of Jones deteriorates over the seven years left on his deal.

Seems very unlikely that now and for the foreseeable future, that Jones is leaving the Windy City.

Agreed. The much more insightful method is for everyone to watch the games and come to their own, expert opinions. Way fewer assumptions and subjectivity.
Wasn't what I was saying. I realize everyone has their own eyes and what they value, and that definitely can lead to incorrect assumptions. I was more just saying that I think NHL analytics are mostly garbage. They tell a story, but its not like baseball where it can really just tell you if someone is good or not. I don't think the NHL numbers are that valuable. I think they are valuable but not at that level.

Gallagher + Armia

I doubt either Gallagher or Jones waive but I would do it, Blackhawks probably say no

Canucks would ruin their budget by bringing Jones in. Hughes would demand 11 million on his next contract.
BUT I could see a Boeser,OEL, Rathbone for Jones a 4th and 6th happen. Canucks move out serious dollars. The only thing that would help us.

I think you are underestimating how bad Jones' contract is.

67M for seven years dwarfs Boeser and OEL's combined 40M with these both expiring by years 3 and 4, respectively.

Compounded by the fact OEL would likely not waive to go to Chitown and Jones wouldn't likely waive to go to VanCity.

Though, I suppose every possibility exists in the multiverse.

This contract seems unmovable unless you want to trade for Nurse 1 for 1 lol

This is crazy. Seth Jones is a top pair defenseman at absolute worst a 3. If he was a UFA this year he would be paid like 8-9 million for 7 years. The NMC makes him unmovable but how far this has swung is nuts.

To Dallas in exchange for Seguin makes sense as a ground work for a trade.

For Nurse as a change of scenery makes some sense for Edmonton because of Jones being RHD but doesn't do anything for Chicago and Jones might not wave.

Jones would get eaten alive in Vancouver for his vocal Qanon twitter shenanigans.

Better to leave him to mentor the young Chicago core, looking forward to seeing Bedard and Korchinski storm the Capital in 2024.
