If LV ends up not taking Hudon, they at least definitely had eyes on him.

Thanks for sharing that. I don't think he's a valueless commodity myself, but just thought the worry got a little of control especially after he signed. Which indicated to me MB knew who LV was choosing and it wasn't him.

Plus there's a lot of smoke with the Habs chasing D, another indicator to me of MB knowing who LV likes.

But will he have value for them coming TDL.......Plekanec will.

Emelin doesn't have 2 yrs left?

Emelin will. OTOH, what if Plekanec is even worse offensively than last year? It's been trending down the last 2 years. Would playoff teams want a small, soft, purely defensive player for the playoffs...even as a rental? Maybe, but he wont go for what Hanzal did.

Why not David Desharnais actually fetched something.

I think Davidson is gone. He's a guy Vegas can take and keep for their bottom pairing while trading bigger names for future assets.

I won't be upset if Davidson is their guy. He's replaceable.

Why the hell would LV take hudon, not an nhler, small, soft, not fast. There is some serious overrating going on here. He's not remotely attractive to any team really.

He's to the Habs exposure list that Leipsic is to the Leafs. To be honest, I'd take a gamble on them over a guy like Davidson. I'd be okay with him being the pick over Hudon.

with Vegas already seemingly getting two bottom 6 Centers in Haula & Kruger and not picking Dumba, Vatanen and/or Johnson.

I'm thinking Emelin might be the pick Vegas is likely take from the habs.

Sounds like VGK isn't taking Kruger anymore so there is still a glimmer of hope they take Plekanec.

To me it's not even Davidson

It's De La Rose. Could be a decent 4th center for cheap.

Rumblings the Toronto Maple Leafs will lose Brendan Leipsic in the expansion draft.

Difference is Leipsic is the best available option on the Leafs while Plekanec and Emelin are better than Hudon.

Plekanec being one of the top available C is what seals the deal to me.

The league really gave VGK way too much power, they're going to be loaded with picks and good players.

They have to nail all those picks... It's far from a sure deal.

Based on this, I'm less confident in my earlier prediction that they'll take Plekanec as they are adding a lot of cap space and vets up front with these deals.

We have to remember that a lot of picked players will be traded right away so I wouldn't put too much weight on that salary cap.

I think some people overrate the prospect and don't take into account that Vegas wants value.

It's funny that apparently, this management can't develop **** but everybody got all outraged at the idea of losing Hudon...

It really depends on how much cap space they can afford to waste. Everyone is trying to pawn off their undesirable contracts to LV. At some point these salaries add up. They could go with NHL ready talented prospects over proven veterans at some point if they start getting tight in cap space.

If I were McPhee, I'd definitely go Hudon over Plekanec.

Where the reasoning of having a better veteran available actually applies would be Nashville, where even though a young promising player like Aberg is available, you can't really afford to pass on a guy like Neal that should be in high demand at the deadline.

You can only retain up to 50% of a player's salary. Plekanec at maximum retention is still a 3M player. That can hurt his value for a contender looking to add the final piece while being near the cap.

Well he's getting there right?

So now we have Drouin, Danault, Mitchell, Byron, (not from QC, but speaks french and from the Q), Hudon (maybe).

They had Desharnais & Barberio also. I don't think it's a requirement, but you know it's always counted as a plus.

Some rumors with Scandella too and a lesser one, Beauvillier.

So we're counting the ones that are not there yet AND the ones that we are rumored too...good one boys. How about waiting and seeing what we really have when all is said and done.

Guess people were too optimistic when they thought they might have one appealing prospect. Vegas probably left Habs until last to pick a player from and picked one because they have to.

Well you were just looking for reason to talk about Hudon at the presser. This is 100% marketing, so you mention the ones that are not there yet of course!

Edit: Well specially if they are close, because did he mentioned Audet, Bourque, Gregoire & Fucale?

Funny thing is, he would not even be available to expose if the Habs weren't so desperate to rush him.

No, even if we left him in the AHL for 3 years he would be eligible. Its pro years, not NHL years.

Unless you mean we should have left him in Sweden, which I don't see why that would be better than the AHL.
