How about this: For the third line, they play with 2 forwards and 3 defensemen. That'd also be strong defensively.


I just have difficulty accepting that Berglund playing wing is worth sitting Lindholm.

Really, is it a crazy idea to replace Berglund with Karlsson? Lindholm is a great defenseman so it's not like their defensive corps would be weakened all that much but I'm sure that Karlsson could offer far more than Berglund with a great role on PP and he could also perform his magic better without having to be as defensively responsible.

The very thing that makes Karlsson great is the way he carries and distributes the puck from his own end and through the neutral zone. He creates points in a completely different way than forwards do. Making him a winger would be like trying to make Ovechkin take Karlssson's role.

But he's still good at playmaking and stuff, right? He didn't just happen to score PPG in NHL. I have difficulty believing he'd be worse offensively than a player who's barely a third liner in NHL. It feels like a severe waste of resources.

Meanwhile Lindholm sits. Are you sure no Ds can play W better than Berglund enough that it'd offset the defensive loss of having Lindholm replace that D? Maybe OEL? Hedman? Would Lindholm himself be a worse winger than Berglund?

I'm hoping that Sweden will start picking up their game, they don't look bad but with Europe looking like they really wanting to win then Sweden has to be better or they won't win this game. They might still not win but they still need to be better if they can.
