Well since it sounds like this guy was acting over-fanatical and quoting false information, it would definitely lead one to believe that he is a Pejorative Slur.
But he does have one very valid point: Bertuzzi should have been taken. It was simply politics why he was not choosen. Team Canada did not want to put the NHL into a uncomfortable position, and thus they opted not to pick him.
Saying that, there is still no way that one does not pick him, especially if you are serious about winning this tournament. Chara is the only defenseman on any other team that would be able to consistently handle him once he parked himself in front of the net.
Bertuzzi should have been choosen, and either Maltby or Morrow should have been left off. You do not need both Morrow and Maltby, as they both will get limited icetime and do very similar jobs. Taking two 4th-line/press-box players who play the exact same way is wasting one roster spot that could have been used for a dominating/difference-making player such as Bertuzzi.
Kariya should have been taken as well, with Gagne being left off. In every aspect/skill that makes a hockey player, Kariya equals Gagne, at the very least. And at the very most, Kariya clearly surpasses him in many aspects/skills. Kariya could have played any role that they would have assigned to Gagne, while offering a much higher offensive upside.
But anyways, those are just my opinions.
