Previous World Cup exhibitions...

1996: Canada 3-1 (Vancouver) USA 7-5 (San Jose)
2004: USA 3-1 (Columbus) Canada 3-1 (Ottawa)

I will be there and I can't wait.

My friends who don't watch hockey (95% of them) don't understand why I'm so excited for an exhibition. I try to explain that I'll be seeing a huge percentage of the world's best players all in one place, that this will likely be the last big international tournament for some of the best players of the last decade plus, but by that point they're ignoring me totally.

TLDR: I'd show up to watch this group eat sandwiches.

No matter which of Canada's four lines that bottom-pairing of the US faces, it will be a mismatch that Canada can exploit. At this level of hockey Jack Johnson is in over his head at this point of his career.

Don't know what to expect from this game in terms of result. Hoping for Canadas tournament game plan to get smoothed out and pairings/lines to start getting comfortable out there.

USA is doomed unless their top 4 Ds can all play close to 30min.

Their offense also falls off hard after top 6.

Byfuglien's on the top pairing. Nice to see him get some recognition after years of making AHL level players look like legit top-4 NHL defenders (i.e. Clitsome and Chiarot). I'm excited to see what he can do beside Suter. That bottom pairing is brutal.

Canada has only 1 natural winger? Really?

I hope every single team dunks on this USA team until Tortorella and the US management team finally gets it through their heads that not every team can be the ****ing 1980 Miracle on Ice and win with pluckiness and heart.

We have enough talent to have a shot without worshipping that stuff so much it prevents us from mitigating talent disparities with teams like CAN by, you know, actually icing our most talented players. /rant

No Erik Johnson or JVR. So we get to see Justin Abdelkader and Jack Johnson lol. That should be a fun way to get these friendlies started. I don't think either play when the games that matter start but should be a rough game tonight. I know he's gonna be named starter once the tournament starts, but Jonathan Quick should be this team's third netminder. Bishop and Schneider are pretty clearly better goalies right now and if this team wants to win with their "grit", they'll need a goalie who can steal games and Schneider can do exactly that

You make it sound like Quick is chopped liver. He's more of a proven winner than the other 2, that's why he's #1 for now. Besides, if he does play unwell US has great options and it's a per-tournament....ease up a bit.

I never said Quick is bad but he's not the great goalie people make him out to be. I know it's just a pre tournament game and the result of it won't matter to me, but I just wish the actual #1 goalie for the team was the guy who has been the best American goalie for years in Schneider.

One of the more idiotic ways I have seen a team put together in some time. The lines make about as much sense as the construction of the team.

I see 1 line that has ever played together and its only 2/3rds of it.

Mark Stone, Taylor Hall and Kris Letang should be on this team.

One game elimination Quick might be the best goaltender in the world. What has Schneider ever won? I just dont agree with this at all.

What I came here to say, but yours is so much better.

After the U-23 performance last night, it will be interesting to see the difference in the pace compared to tonight's game.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they could roll in and win this whole gimmick tourny.

Then again, they could possibly have looked a lot better than they really are, due to facing the worst team of the eight in the WC.
