Hm? It had direct impact on Team Europe gaining possession. That then lead into a goal. "Leads into" is different from "Causes" to me. I'm not a native English-speaker, which term would be more accurate?

I guess it's not a giveaway, it's a "got the puck taken away from him" or something.
