Rumor: Everything JT Miller | Elias Pettersson trade Thread

The newest reports that Boston is making a package for Pettersson is the one that makes the least sense.
The Boston Bruins are not trading past, and the Boston Bruins are not trading, McAvoy.

So what in the blue moon with Boston have to get a guy like Pettersson?

Because Carlo, Freddy, and the first rounder is not gonna get it done.

They don’t have anything else that I’m interested in

Coyle, Zacha, Lysell, Poitras can all be added to the names they'd move

Those are players Vancouver would target for Conor Garland, not Pettersson or Miller.

I dont see how the Bruins make sense unless the Miller offers are really bad elsewhere and somehow Carlo, Frederic, 1st is the best offer out there.

There definetly isnt enough to get Pettersson though unless its McAvoy coming back.

Whoa whoa, I'm a season ticket holder and definitely do not want to move on from EP40 more than Miller. That is very short sighted thinking. You should watch who you hang out with in these games at Rogers Arena.
Fair enough. Let's agree that the fanbase is definitely split on this debate and that the previous poster was incorrect in saying it wasn't even close to as who should be shipped out in the fans' eyes.

This is such a lie lmao
No it isn't. It can't be a lie if it's true and has occurred for me multiple times this year. So keep laughing, but you are incorrect. You can find thousands of Canucks fans who prefer Miller to EP40 this year (especially last year in the playoffs) and even today.

Potential 100 Point Centre for a 60 point winger, where do I sign?
If EP was viewed as a 100pt centre by your own GM, he wouldn't be trying to offload him. Fact is EP *might* be damaged goods and your GM, your coach, and JT Miller the dictator all want "playoff style" players and think EP is not such a figure. Slafkovsky's size might entice them.

I don't think Slaf's ceiling is 60 points just as much as I don't think EP's bound to only get 65-70pts for the rest of his career. Be even-handed.

Conor fing Garland ? Coyle is the only guy on that list I would give up for Garland and even then no thanks lol Conner Fing Garland.

I would be shocked if the Bruins moved on from McAvoy for Petey or Miller. Without McAvoy that defense might be league worst.

But that's also why I was surprised they were supposedly in on them because I don't see how else they get the value that VAN should be asking for.

I wonder, would something like 2025 1st(probably protected)+McAvoy+Poitras work for a Pettersson trade? Or may that actually be an over-payment due to Petey's underperformance this season?
I think a package deal with Zadorov + E.Lindholm + Poitras would be fair (in exchange for Pettersson).

Vancouver wants to compete for the cup this year. Lindholm and Zadorov are both proven players in Vancouver, and especially in the playoffs. Poitras would be a good 2C with potential to become as good as JT Miller in the future.

Why would the Canucks do this when they could have resigned both those guys if they wanted to pay their inflated asking price.

Lmao

A #4 dman they could have signed but didn't, one of the worst contracts in the league and a prospect.

Again, if I was betting, I’d suggest that the scale of the rift has been massively overblown as well. Lots of reporters blow smoke with little to show for it re: Vancouver, the teams poor record is easily attributable to injuries to key players and a thin blue line, Miller’s absence is more likely to be due to a personal matter than anything else, etc. Not saying that there isn’t a conflict between the guys, but when you dig into it there really doesn’t seem to be a lot of there there.
They keep noting Alvin basically confirmed it, and Bruce Boudreau said it was there. It's real, whether or not Canucks fans want to believe it. It isn't just a media rumour. Canucks Coffee: Bruce Boudreau brews on J.T. Miller, Elias Pettersson disconnect

Honestly, Petey would get eaten alive in Boston if he plays the way he has been playing. I don't think he has the mental make up to play there

I think he would thrive on a team that has 1-2 top dawgs where he is not looked at as a leader, etc

Do the Canucks still think they can get above a WC position this year?

It's one injury after another. One C in, one C out. Do the Canucks trade Boeser in the position they are in?

Is Boston withholding salary on both of them, to the tune of several million? No? Then why would we want two players we didn't re-sign for free in exchange for Pettersson?

I wouldn't even mind Zadorov back, but it'd be for a pick or something because Boston concluded he just wasn't a good fit.

It really depends. I think Hronek coming back will be significant for us if only because we'd finally have one competent defense pairing again. Likewise, if they do find a dance partner for a legitimate top four, that changes things.

As for Boeser. I doubt there's any real interest moving him unless he outright says he won't re-sign. We'd have to fall out completely by the TDL to even consider it and I don't think they will happen. We might be on the outside, fighting to make it, but we'll be around.

Imagine trading assets for players, letting those players walk and then paying more assets to acquire them again.

That's Benning logic.
