Seravalli has reported that there are lots of teams in on Miller and its not just NYR. Teams we wouldnt even consider.
Kinda aligns with Friedman who last week had a "random" thought that Chicago should go all in on Miller.
Having said that, the 2 teams I think will come out of nowhere to be front-runners on Miller are CBJ and Carolina. I dont know if it will be in season or off-season but when and if Miller is moved, I think these 2 teams will be at the top of the bidding.
My proposal:
To Carolina
JT Miller,Hoglander
To Van
1st, Necas, Kotkaniemi, Scott Morrow
Speed in transition is something the Canucks badly lack and Necas can provide. After a blistering start Necas only has 3 pts in his last 9 games. Both he and org were looking for a trade this off-season. Van would be a great fit. Has the hurricanes been using him as a winger lately? Canucks would have to be certain that they like him at Centre. It would also be a gamble as Necas is a UFA after next year.
Miller would be a game changer for the Hurricanes. Especially in the playoffs. He would change the dynamic of the team and bring in some snarl and aggression alongside his elite playmaking and power forward game.
To Columbus
JT Miller, Forbort
To Van
Kent Johnson, Ivan Provorv, 1st 2026 ( top 10 protected)
JT Miller goes home, Kent Johnson goes home.
Canucks would have to be confident with 2 things. Kent Johnson is a Centre and not a Winger. Provorov is willing to sign long term.
CBJ is flushed with young C's with the likes of Sillenger, Kent Johnson and Fantili. I believe they are looking to compete sooner rather than later and want to cash some of the young guys into proven elite players. Miller would be great for them. They would have a 1-2-3 of Monahan, Miller, Fantili down the middle moving Sillinger to Wing. This allows them to be competitive during Werenski's prime while still having plenty of young studs on the roster for the future.
Canucks downgrade at C but gets younger with Kent Johnson. They also perhaps find a long term D partner for Tom Willander in the likes of Provorov. Canucks top 4 come playoff time would be :
Hughes-Hronek
Provorv-Willander
I feel the Canucks lineup would be very very soft and peremeter based after this trade, other trades would have to be made to add more size and grit into the roster. Pettersson-Kent Johnson- Suter-Bleuger might be the softest C core in the league. They'd have to get some rugged wingers to support but the skill of EP40 and Kent Johnson as a 1-2 would be undeniable.
