Do rangers fans actually think Zibanejad gets them EP40??? 😂😂😂 I knew most were delusional but my god

Not trying to give you a hard time but can we all make some effort to avoid throwing an entire fan base under the bus because of what some think? Trash talking about other teams only creates stupid post wars.

I'm pretty sure most of the Rangers fan base think this is not possible.

Seravalli has reported that there are lots of teams in on Miller and its not just NYR. Teams we wouldnt even consider.

Kinda aligns with Friedman who last week had a "random" thought that Chicago should go all in on Miller.

Having said that, the 2 teams I think will come out of nowhere to be front-runners on Miller are CBJ and Carolina. I dont know if it will be in season or off-season but when and if Miller is moved, I think these 2 teams will be at the top of the bidding.

My proposal:

To Carolina
JT Miller,Hoglander

To Van
1st, Necas, Kotkaniemi, Scott Morrow

Speed in transition is something the Canucks badly lack and Necas can provide. After a blistering start Necas only has 3 pts in his last 9 games. Both he and org were looking for a trade this off-season. Van would be a great fit. Has the hurricanes been using him as a winger lately? Canucks would have to be certain that they like him at Centre. It would also be a gamble as Necas is a UFA after next year.

Miller would be a game changer for the Hurricanes. Especially in the playoffs. He would change the dynamic of the team and bring in some snarl and aggression alongside his elite playmaking and power forward game.

To Columbus
JT Miller, Forbort

To Van
Kent Johnson, Ivan Provorv, 1st 2026 ( top 10 protected)

JT Miller goes home, Kent Johnson goes home.

Canucks would have to be confident with 2 things. Kent Johnson is a Centre and not a Winger. Provorov is willing to sign long term.

CBJ is flushed with young C's with the likes of Sillenger, Kent Johnson and Fantili. I believe they are looking to compete sooner rather than later and want to cash some of the young guys into proven elite players. Miller would be great for them. They would have a 1-2-3 of Monahan, Miller, Fantili down the middle moving Sillinger to Wing. This allows them to be competitive during Werenski's prime while still having plenty of young studs on the roster for the future.

Canucks downgrade at C but gets younger with Kent Johnson. They also perhaps find a long term D partner for Tom Willander in the likes of Provorov. Canucks top 4 come playoff time would be :

Hughes-Hronek
Provorv-Willander

I feel the Canucks lineup would be very very soft and peremeter based after this trade, other trades would have to be made to add more size and grit into the roster. Pettersson-Kent Johnson- Suter-Bleuger might be the softest C core in the league. They'd have to get some rugged wingers to support but the skill of EP40 and Kent Johnson as a 1-2 would be undeniable.

I think your valuation of JT Miller is astronomically off-base.

I just can’t figure out if it’s serious or trolling from some

Miller is such a beast, I honestly hate to see him go. If we’re trying to win a cup right now we should keep him. If we have to pick between Miller and Pettersson and it’s compete for a cup today, you keep Miller and move Pettersson. If we’re rebuilding trade both. You don’t compete for a cup by trading your best center who is built for playoff hockey.

I’m about to blow your minds…

You’re an owner of a business, one of your employees decides he needs a “mental stress” break and is off work for a month. While he should be at work, he’s shopping, taking the kids to school, catching up on old flicks. Oh and this employee makes 8 million bucks a year!

I'm about to blow your mind...

...no one worth respecting gives a f*** about an asshole boss's opinion on mental health breaks.

Oh wait shit. Sorry. I didn't realize you said this hypothetical employee in need of a mental health break was committing the capital offense of taking his kids to school. What the f***, man??

I recognize his NMC dosent kick in till July 1st, but, would any team want to trade for Pettersson that wasn't among is already top 2 or 3 preferred destinations to play for if not Vancouver?

What ya goin to do about it

JT is annoyed because there's a "soft euro" making more money than him.
Pretty much. And 50% more than him to lol

i'll stop you there, KJ (and his extremely team-friendly $1.8m aav through 2027) is not on the table lol. i wouldn't even give him up for pettersson.
JT Miller goes home, Kent Johnson goes home.
JT Miller's hometown is less than an hour away from Pittsburgh and three hours away from Columbus, he is not a hometown player for us whatsoever.

columbus would counter by offering the following for pettersson:
  • provorov
  • sillinger
  • minnesota's first round pick
  • CBJ's first round pick in either 25 or 26, with top-5 protection in either instance

you wouldnt do Kent Johnson for Ep40 1 for 1?

At same age now as Kent, Pettersson already had a 28,27, 32 goal season.

While Kent's career high is 40 pts...

I like Kent Johnson, but i dont think i like him as much as you do.

All good. I find we all can get frustrated on these boards at times. The bad apples tend to ruin it for the bunch kind of thing

f*** off Drury.

This is something maybe both the Canucks and Rangers fans would agree on.. maybe?

EP40 is a better player with a more impressive body of work, but right now, in this moment? he's less productive on a per-minute basis than KJ, is four years older, and is making $10m more per year.

so… no, i wouldn't include him in that trade. let alone a trade for an almost-33-year-old JT miller.
While Kent's career high is 40 pts...
he's gonna blow past that this year, obviously. he's put up 0.85 p/gp this year which is a 70-point pace. he's only played about 150 NHL games and he looks like a star this year.

again, a CBJ deal would start with sillinger + provorov and have futures added to it from there.

what, apparently Rangers offered Mika 1 for 1 in a deal that would land them Jt. Miller.
HAHAHAHAHA what a poor offer
I think that offer was purposed and declined awhile ago, as in weeks ago. Both teams are still talking I assume. What's interesting is who this rumor comes from, a writer from The Athletic who covers the Pittsburgh Penguins. Makes me immediately think of Jim Rutherford.

I still stand by my initial belief that whenever or however Zibanejad is traded it will not be just Mika Zibanejad going but most likely other pieces attached as well. I'd assume a young player with some value, Schneider, Miller, Othmann, Berard, Cuylle, Chytil etc.
And if the Rangers/Drury are serious about a quick revamp/reload this calendar year I would think that 2025 1st is on the table too. Currently sitting at 7th overall.

I think VAN really wants Braden Schneider in a deal like this.

I agree. I’m sure big trades like this take time to develop. I’m also sure NYR will need to add and then Vancouver might be interested.

A few more points:
1. Zibanejad - for all the criticism he is getting, yes, it’s warranted. But it’s not just him. His whole line has sucked. It doesn’t work. Kreider had 1 assist. Smith looks like he should retire.
My point is IF you put Zibanejad with the right linemates in Vancouver, he can still be a 60-75 point 2nd line center.

2. JT Miller and Vancouver - he is also not exactly dominating consistently this season. Clearly there are issues between him and EP.
But the bigger issue is that Vancouver is not contending for a Cup with their current defense. Therefore, moving Miller for a Center and a top 4 defenseman is a trade that can work for them. It kills two birds with one stone:
Fix the locker room issues
And
Improve the defense

Going from Miller’s style of play and his overall contributions when he’s on his game to that of Zibanejad’s should be a no go. Full stop.

Don't mean to be rude but even coming from a Canucks fan, the return for JT Miller in some of these deals are not grounded in any form of reality. Especially the Carolina deal.
