Well, of the three, I like Greenway the most, a solid third-line player, physical and defensively competent.
Tocchet and the nucks organization would definitely choose greenway.

I'd imagine in a hypothetical deal like that buf would also get some other decent pieces back, juulsen, Brannstrom, Karlsson, raty, Aman, or mid rounders, whatever works.

Canucks don't want Lafferty back, how's Greenway doing? Any update on his injury?

Greenway, like Teddy Blueger before him, was an obvious fit if and when the player is a UFA.

We've been rumored to want him for awhile now just like Teddy but hes not something involved in a EP40 trade imo.

And we dont need or want Krebs. Hes redundant we just waived Vasili like 2 months ago.

Rosen, even if we add our own now busted version of him in Linus Karlsson, is also pointless in adding on either side.

Cozens, Byram, Ostlund or Helenius or 1st

Pettersson

Three for one. Thats what the Canucks need. Theyre gonna lose on the center ice position today and plug two huge holes elsewhere like top 4 defenseman and top center prospect.

Don’t take it too seriously I was trying to construct an all Swedish blockbuster

Necas has more value than this time last year and Pettersson has less
This is true, but Pettersson is now locked up long term, whereas he wasn't before.

And Necas only has one year remaining now instead of two.

So these things balance out.

No Barry Pederson was 25 years old with 116 and 107 point seasons under his belt, but about to break down due to injuries (mostly his back).

Elias, also with a 100 point season under his belt, is also 25 and possibly about to break down, albeit some of it being mentally.

Miller is more Alex Mogilny for us. Wring side of 30 but still close enough to a 100 point season where we get some value.

Mogilny turned into Brendan Morrison and another Pederson.. Dennis Pederson.
This is just totally incorrect.

The 'injury' Pederson was to his arm. I think he had a cyst or cancer or something that had to be cut out and led to nerve damage.

Pederson also wasn't a two-way player as far as I know, and he also played with a better player in Rick Middleton.

Pettersson is definitely Neely in this analogy.

Well we'll probably have to add our first or solid center prospect then, not sure Cozens and Byram together will do it, teams will pay.
A top 6C and a top 3D young with long term control? Yeah, I am sure every team is lining up to move two of those in one trade.

In terms of EP with 7 more years left at $11.6M and a proven pt/game center, do we have a past trade comparable for what this returns for a 26 year old at the beginning of their prime? I can't think of any centers and the closest one I can think about (not a center) is PK Subban. I believe he was traded at age 26 with 6 years left on his contract.

I bet there will be such teams, of course not all of them, but look at the proposals in this thread, there are some pretty good ones. Moreover, according to rumors, it should be 3-4 parts, as I understand it.

Would help to add the source of these rumors

It’s one of the social media accounts who follows the team and is fairly active on the Flames social media front. His information has been very accurate the last number of years.

Eichel -> 1st + 2nd+ Krebs + Tuch

If they really want to trade Pettersson, this seems to be a good comp even though it will likely a) be underwhelming for most fans and b) mean that the player replacing Tuch needs to be a C or a D while the 1st and a 2nd will be flipped for a C or a D because VAN wants to contend as long as Hughes is here

Reminder, Eichel came with a neck thing.

Eichel would be closest in terms of player type (#1 2-way c), mid 20s, with question marks.

Difference is Buffalo took futures with the main piece being a top prospect. Canucks don't have interest in that and instead want 1 or 2 big pieces in return that are contributing now. In that sense the Tkachuk trade is similar.

Tkachuk was a sign/trade so yeah, I agree with that part (young talented player available and locked up with term). Hopefully you do better than the older Huberdeau, Weegar, and a late 1st.

Lets summarize: Anybody got any other names they can remember? I'll add it to this list

1) Subban (age 26 with 6 years left at $9M AAV)
for
* Weber

2) Eichel (age 24/25 with 5 years left at $10M AAV)
for
* Krebs
* Tuch
* Mid 1st (16th pick... Ostlund)
* 2nd round pick

3) Tkachuk (age 25 and sign/trade for 8 years at $9.5M AAV)
for
* Huberdeau (pending UFA the Flames extended)
* Weegar (pending UFA the Flames extended)
* 1st round pick (unknown at this point)

"Difficult situation"

There was a chance Eichel never played again.

Its not comparable.

That was likely overblown, VGK would not have paid that price otherwise. Pettersson has clearly Lost a step since last year, no certainty he will gain it back. In addition, the Locker room controversy does not help.

In both cases the team selling has a weaker bargaining power.
