Evander Kane

Podkolzon did a whole lot of nothing. Brown did a whole lot of nothing.

Podkolzin is the obvious choice for me. He brings much of what we expect from Kane, except a willingness to shoot the puck and an ability to finish. Kane should be a huge upgrade.

To be honest I've been wondering for weeks now what Podkolzin actually delivers. He spend the majority of his minutes with Draisaitl, who by all accounts had a career year at 5v5 and still Pods has only 8 goals and 24 points?

He reminds me a lot of Puljujarvi, just with more grit. Zero assertiveness offensively, good enough defensively to be a coach favorite.

Kane and the Oilers gamed the system. It couldn't be more obvious.

Either way, nice having him back
It's like there are players who are great at executing a system, like the Sedins who were amazing at that, but there are also players who are great at breaking a system. That's Kane or Hyman. Hopefully Hyman can find his top gear as well

Literally nothing. Hes a net zero player.

I don't agree on Podkolzin

Granted he isn't going to light up the score sheet but that's not his role.
He's a North / South player who's job is to be sound defensively and punish the opposition by hard play and finishing every check with authority.
Watch him closely .... He never does unengaged flybys.... He hits everyone and not softly.
I bet the skill guys appreciate him more that you realize... He wears people down with his physicality which pays off for other players

As advertised, he was everything this team has been missing up front all season. I just don't think anyone expected him to be this good this soon...

That ugly ass goal sure led to some pretty compelling stuff. I hope he regains the magic he had back in 2022, because he sure resembled that version of Kane last night. Just a big, mean bully with talent to spare.

That is one thing I really appreciate about Podkolzin especially when there are precious few players like that on this team.
It would be nice though if he was a threat to score. Even though he is predominantly getting minutes with Draisaitl he is 12th on the team in goal scoring with only 8 goals.
Its just not good enough.

I mean an almost 40 year old Corry Perry at 5x5 (playing mostly bottom pairing minutes) has scored almost double the goals Podkolzin has managed this season..

I agree with the sentiment here: Podkolzin is an offensive black hole who should be kept far away from the Top 6. How the f*** do you manage 24 points when playing with Leon all season? It's hilarious whenever he takes a shot from Draisaitl's office. Can you imagine what his point totals would be if he spent the whole season on the third or fourth line? We're talking backup goalie number of points.

If we have this Kane next game (and Pickard starts), put money down on us winning.
