Podkolzon did a whole lot of nothing. Brown did a whole lot of nothing.
Podkolzin is the obvious choice for me. He brings much of what we expect from Kane, except a willingness to shoot the puck and an ability to finish. Kane should be a huge upgrade.
To be honest I've been wondering for weeks now what Podkolzin actually delivers. He spend the majority of his minutes with Draisaitl, who by all accounts had a career year at 5v5 and still Pods has only 8 goals and 24 points?
He reminds me a lot of Puljujarvi, just with more grit. Zero assertiveness offensively, good enough defensively to be a coach favorite.
