What would be the point?

They don't need the cap space, lower-end LHD don't carry a ton of value, and none of the end-of-summer, bargain bin UFA's can confidently replace his minutes/role.. The last best option signed about a month ago with COL (Kylington); nor do they have an internal replacement waiting in the wings.

Pre-offer sheets, you could make a decent argument to trade Kulak. But with both Broberg and Ceci already gone, also moving Kulak just doesn't make sense.
need the cap... need better players

without both the Edmonton Oilers will never win a cup

Whoa. Get healthy Kaner. We can rebuild him!

It makes sense for Bowman to deflect away from the player's health issues. First and foremost it is a personal decision regarding disclosure of the health issues and treatment approach to remedy. Secondly it's good for the Oilers management to have cover for the LTIR effect leveraged by Vegas and others. All decisions deflect back to the player and his choices on multiple injury recovery.

Guy's a warrior, need him healthy for hard, highly contested playoff competition.

That's an insane amount of rehab, if you understand body kinetics you know, but Kane is a very powerful dude and he'll come back stronger than ever, like a pitbull.

No cutting corners to come back early and reaggravating the injury, then having to undergo another procedure, followed by more rehab.

I'm a big supporter of Evander Kane at the rink and in the community. The Oilers and the fanbase owe this man a mountain of respect. He's played through pain and controversy.

Welp, we suddenly have a ton of cap space for the deadline now. Hopefully he can rest up and be ready for the playoffs at some point.

Seems like their plan has always been to try and line up Kane’s recovery time with the end of the regular season. Hopefully he can be skating in the new year, practicing with the team by the deadline, condition stint heading to the playoffs and ready to come back some time in round 1.

Please this. Cap space is most important in the time between the deadline and the playoffs. Maybe have a big rehab cushion to where if there is an injury Kane can come back early, like Stamkos did with the Lightning that one year

Our team needs to act more like Vegas and Tampa

It's good for the player as well. Evander will receive the highest degree of sports medical attention, if you look at the possible outcomes beyond this regular season, it likely extends his NHL career.

Get the surgical stuff over with. Then take as much rest and rehabilitation as possible to get his body and mind where they need to be. The timing works for the club as well as the player.

I think Kane and everyone else shouldn’t think of this as “losing a season”….but rather as potentially adding a season or two to his career.

I remember everyone starting rumors during playoffs because kane was missing practices and had lots of maintenance days. They said he was selfish and not a team player, when it was announced before playoffs that he was injured. It was clear the guy was going through some tough injuries. Twitter, instagram and reddit were ready to run the guy out of town.

It wasn’t just X and Instagram and reddit either. There were lots of posts on here saying stuff like ‘Kane is cooked’ etc. Seems like everyone but Kane gets the injury excuse in the minds of some posters.

People see what they are looking for. In the case of Kane, his reputation follows him around, and people can’t comprehend that the way someone was at the age of 25 might have changed. They might want to ask themselves if they have anything they ever regretted from that time in their life.
