ESPN layoffs,Chris Chelios, and of course many others gone at espn

You mean when he isn't injured, stealing his team's money because his feelings are hurt and he needs to regroup or when he's sitting out for some nonsensical protest pseudo cause right?
For that part specifically I agree with you. But there's so much else that Kyrie gets dunked on for. SAS is just a hater man lol

Just because you were a good player doesn't mean you're a good analyst. I don't care much for him or Messier.

I don't hate Jones and Milbury though. Love Biz and the TNT crew.

ESPN has been going to shit ever since Stuart Scott died. Actually before that but his death came at the same time FS1 and podcasts were starting to take off.

Their football coverage is whatever, but holy hell they suck at the NBA. I don't know how the hell Kendrick Perkins is still there.

Sadly, Stephen A. Smith is still employed.

I recall one bored day where I went through espn, espn2, and espn news.. Stephen A was shouting on all of them. All different programs, same hot take artist on them all.

I just wanted sports highlights, not manufactured outrage. Gee espn, wonder what the problem is. Show dingers and goals, fewer taking heads, and you won’t have to fire good people behind the scenes. Trash tier management.

Hard to have successful broadcasts when you hire analysts just for being former players.

Can't believe Kellerman was getting paid 5m. Had he been racist like Stephen A Smith maybe he's get a 10m bonus too.

Kiper speaks more confidently and aggressively, even if his actual coverage and analysis is freaking terrible. Unfortunately, that's what "sells" more than McShay's more grounded level of analysis.

Think which HFBoards posts get more engagement. "This guy has some strengths, but he has some weaknesses too, I could see it working out well or not working out, we'll just kinda have to wait and see" versus "THIS IS THE WORST THING THAT ANYONE HAS EVER DONE IN HUMAN HISTORY AINEC!!"

Who in the hell is Mel Kiper anyway?

It's all a facade. He's just another puppet

Yup. McAfee is a joke, but the sycophants that love him are bigger jokes. He was cool when he started out and was doing the interviews with guys like Marshawn Lynch and he got them to open up by showing he was different than the stuffed shirts. He came in at their level. But he's gotten way too big for his britches way too fast. He got into a pissy Twitter fight with the Detroit Lions because they had Dan Campbell turn him down for media availability during Week 17. He had some weird "entitlement" that they should talk to him because 'I cared about you guys when nobody else did'.

I don’t watch or listen to them other than when forced to watch the playoffs. I wish they didn’t get the NHL contract.

ESPN is a dying brand. Disney (which itself is not doing well) is likely to cut bait entirely. The landscape for sports entertainment has change dramatically and ESPN has done a poor job at adapting to the times. It may just fold entirely in the next 25 years.
Disney is bleeding money. Their streaming has not done well. Their stock is not doing well. They have laid off Park employees as well. Asking for a bailout would not surprise me.

I challenge you to post any example of what you’re claiming. They went too big on taking heads period, it has nothing to do with the identity politics you claim to hate and then yourself impose on everything. Not everything you disagree with is far left nor is it even necessarily politics- they just got too much into discussion and away from highlights, but again- gimme an example. Any example. I’ll wait.
I mean some of the discussion you are referencing dives into political issues though. You can't and shouldn't get away from some of these topics but ESPN wades on these issues a lot and it's exhausting for many viewers. Not saying that is the sole factor for ESPN's decline as a media force but it plays a part.

Again- they discuss social issues, but the claim is that they’re “woke”. Im asking for evidence of this from the snowflakes who are so infinitely offended by words and dissenting opinions. I think they went too far into opinion pieces from an entertainment perspective, but I’ll be damned if they’ve provided any sort of consistent political narrative. They’re a poorly run organization, im honestly asking for any evidence that it’s somehow leftist and not just incompetent.
