Wasn't he the same one that said Kasper was going to Ottawa only for Kasper himself to say he's staying in Sweden days later?
Haha I don’t know but I will say I have seen subsequent reports saying that the OG report isn’t true. So, it’s still a complete long shot and unlikely to happen. Don’t shoot the messenger. It’s news in July so I’ll flirt with the idea of it for some fun projections and wishful thinking

He needs to transfer into the North American style of play for sure

But not likely it happens .imagine . Slafkovsky, Spence and Molnar though …

Okay.. far too early for them to make this call but if true.. WOW. Huge. Maybe this helps them get Molnar and that means they trade Kulakov

This was a fake report meant to troll Habs fans. He's a Sens reporter. Montreal GM Kent Hughes has already said Slafkovsky is playing in either Laval (Montreal's AHL affiliate) or in Montreal next season.

I figured. I don’t follow Canadian hockey reporters so didn’t have the context but it’s July so there is nothing else going on. Still fun to dream about.

Even if this was true, they don't have to trade any of their imports. If an import is a 1st round NHL draft pick and is sent down they still get to keep all 3. I believe it was put in place by the CHL in 2012 when the Sabres sent down Mikhail Grigorenko to Quebec after they had 2 imports already.

That situation only comes into play if it's after the trade deadline. Prior to that they have to trade/waive one.

they deffinetly have to waive or trade one right away. london had the same issue with guskov, boqvist and kolyachonok and had to waive kolyachonok

So a possible swing and a miss for Brown on the import situation with Molnar and now a possible swing and a miss on a big forward taken with the 41st pick in round 2. Off to a stellar start from the latest draft on top of reuniting a coaching staff hung over from the "glory days".

At least for now on paper: Well done Brownie, well done *sarcasm*

erie is interesting, they have not really been a top team since mcdavid left. a bit of bad luck on drystale, but also not sure how well they have drafted in recent years either?

Molnar plays tonight against Canada, game should be broadcasted in Canada on tsn. He is 60/40 in favour of Nitra. However Adam Sykora is going back to Nitra next year, taking up a top 6 wing role. That probably pushes the needle more in the direction of Erie

Haha for real… this is getting ridiculous and isn’t sustainable for much longer. That said, Saganiuk was the same way and we got him here. It’s not totally over until next year. This wasn’t a kid we expected to make the roster this year given the forward depth. But if they don’t get him signed by next season it’s a huge miss yet again. Combined with Molnar, it’s the type of stuff they can’t afford any longer. I’m about ready to bail if they miss on these types of signing and struggle to even be a competitive team yet again

McDavid left in 2015. They won it all in 2017. They had success without him but they sold everything off for 4 straight years. Do fans on other teams not realize the drastic nature of that?? Rarely do teams go for it 2 years in a row, let alone 3. 4 in a row? That’s unheard of. So it was naturally going to take 2-3 years minimum. The pandemic killed them more than most because they lost out on the cashing in of Drysdale/Golod/Yetman that they needed much, much more than most teams. Instead they all graduated to the NHL/AHL

Their assets depleted from 2013-2017 and little youth was left in the system by the time the rebuild started (McShane, Neumann, etc. traded away). Their drafting has been average. They have hit on late round picks like Golod, Yetman, Cohen, and DAmato in the u18. They missed on early picks in Sproule (but late 1st round pick so hard to hit on that) and Lockhart (so far a bust given the position drafted). With the rest of the guys it’s too early to tell or they were 4-15th round picks. Not a lot of 2/3rd rounders from 2016-2019. COVID didn’t help because they lost out on trading Drysdale for a ransom

Their bigger issue has been coaching and asset management. Asset management being the trades and the waste of import picks on guys like Molnar (potentially). It’s not that they can’t evaluate talent or draft. Rather, they seem to not be able to sign some important pieces which has impacted their high end talent. Not to mention the horrible coaching that hasn’t been able to develop players which might be leading to trouble with signing guys. Of all the issues though, drafting for talent isn’t one. Drafting guys that sign? That’s the bigger issue. Coaching that develops players? That’s the main issue

Thanks for updating. I’m sure Erie will promise a top line role and PP time. Could be a situation where he doesn’t get playing time with Nitra and comes later in the year too.

ive worked in the league, so yes. I was off by a year. some teams seem to be consistently competitive, some not so much, even after going for it. looking at the draft, the 04 draft has left holes in the organization. 03 draft had some wins but for the most part they seem to have alot of average smaller players.

COVID makes it hard to really get a good feel. From my recollection, Erie had zero players that played overseas or went to other leagues for the year. Their entire roster sat out for a full season. It makes it hard to really get a full picture. But as I mentioned previously - this is the year where excuses are no longer valid. COVID in the rear view mirror. New coaching staff. Most of the roster returning. They need to be better. Let’s see what happens.

It seems Molnar thing is closer to 50/50. If you see the report with other Slovak guys, it’s not like many are reporting but Molnar seems like the one potential to show up at some point

Asking a few general questions.

It's been a number of years since the last time I came down to Erie for the doubleheader weekend between the Attack and Otters. Will be making the trip along with the booster club from Owen Sound.

1. Does the EIA have free Wi-Fi?
2. Will there be any posters in attendance?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated if any posters have answers PM me thnx.

1. Yes they have free Wi-Fi
2. Depending on my daughter's hockey schedule, we are season ticket holders and attend every game.

We sat by your faithful a couple years back and it was a great time by all!

I wish our booster club would do bus trips again. Ours has fallen apart even before COVID. I’d love to get to OS for a double header.

I'll be waiting for the inevitable announcement where his rights get traded to London (or Windsor or Kitchener) for a 3rd round pick in 2026 and a 13th forward (or 3rd string goalie) from that year's roster.
