Wow I was literally going to suggest Erie make a trade like this to close their draft pick gap. This makes sense![]()

Not sure how this makes sense...but...I guess it could work out or DB is an id10t.
Well, it’ll help speed up any rebuild for this year and next but it further thins out a thin draft pick cupboard for the Otters. It’s not like the NB 2nd is a high 2nd rnd pick either.![]()

Wonder if it is a precursor to more trades (including players) at a future time for a run in 2 years time.Well, it’ll help speed up any rebuild for this year and next but it further thins out a thin draft pick cupboard for the Otters. It’s not like the NB 2nd is a high 2nd rnd pick either.
Not really… they close their major gap this year and lose a 2nd in 2025… when they have plenty of time to recoup and they had a “normal” cupboard for that year. 2024 3rd pick is conditional so not sure what that means but by my math and tracker, Erie had 2 thirds in 2024. So now they are back to 1 2nd and 1 3rd for that yearWell, it’ll help speed up any rebuild for this year and next but it further thins out a thin draft pick cupboard for the Otters. I agree and all it really comes down to is who they draft and if it ends up being a good pick. According to the CHL site it will be the 41st pick in the draft. Giving them the 38th and 41st and their 2nd overall. Not really… they close their major gap this year and lose a 2nd in 2025… when they have plenty of time to recoup and they had a “normal” cupboard for that year. 2024 3rd pick is conditional so not sure what that means but by my math and tracker, Erie had 2 thirds in 2024. Also it’s still possible they now flip one of these seconds for a 3rd this year and 2nd next year. You don’t know yet and it’s something they did last year to move around the draft board. Either way - this was the last year they had a big gap. Next year and beyond is “normal” cupboard. They could afford to move some assets around to close their gap this year. I don’t understand the issue with it and I actually prefer this approach. Spread out their picks to fix their last year of empty cupboards. Next year - back to “normal”
That’s true too. If they pick a kid who doesn’t show up - total dumb move. Let’s check back in 2-3 yearsI agree and all it really comes down to is who they draft and if it ends up being a good pick. Way to early to even begin to think about it being a good/bad trade.
The pick is #41 overall formally North Bay's![]()

I’m super excited and hope we get him. For the needs of the team, it really is a perfect fit. Let’s go!Malcolm Spence come on down.
Maybe it’s why they picked up another 2nd? I would hope if they made that move for an additional 2nd that they were targeting someone. Either way, I like the idea of another Pens player. Keep that pipeline open and keep expanding it. I still feel we could and need to do better with American recruits.@NOA - Taken from Brock's writeup...
If holding true to try and get Pens Elite, he could be on the board in maybe the 2nd.
Jack Edwards, W, Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 15U
Jack Edwards has all of the makings of a really exciting juniors player. He’s a creative player who isn’t scared to make risky plays both on-and-off the puck and has a great goal-scoring prowess. If there’s ever even a wisp of a scoring chance, Edwards is going to do everything he can to put himself in position to be the one to bury it. His shot is quick and he has nice lateral movement with the puck on his stick, helping him get through the neutral zone in a very mature way. And while he’s clearly shown he has great hockey IQ, he does have a habit of deviating from his position if he thinks it can turn the play on its head. This could either be an incredible trait, or a detrimental one, at the next level, only time will tell. But as it stands, Edwards is one of the best goal-scoring Americans available in this Draft.

This is a picture of Spence from an article in The Athletic today. Picture was taken this week. If you look closely, you can see that he's already got Otters gear. Those are Otters logos on his helmet. Gold stripe on his pants. I'd say that's the pick, fellas.
I have to imagine most years it goes like that in the top of the draft. Pretty easy for Saginaw and Erie to do it. So once they do, it just trickles down to the rest of the teamsI think the top 5 teams have already informed each other and the players who they are taking. Have heard some were already in their prospective cities last night
Isn't 416 The Ice Dog's Area Code ? lolView attachment 537587
