The truth is that Habs fans are lighting up these threads because a TON of posters on here have barely watched the kid play but have all kinds of opinions about his potential.

Just curious, do you think more non-affiliated posters have seen more of Hutson or Celebrini?

Funny shit, Michkov had a lot of points, but his advanced stats sucked, now his advanced stats are great, but his points aren't.

Celebrini had a great first half (all I could watch) - absolute bedardian snipe on the first shot of the game, line was dominant in OZ possession, tons of chance creation, secondary PP, and could have gotten an assist for the forecheck forced turnover leading to Walman's goal. Ended up +/- 0 so the absolute meltdown that I missed was only partially unkind to him.

As I have been saying and some reasonable posters have been saying - excellent rookie class, exciting race, anything can happen.

The teams went strong against Hutson in the last 3 game. The game plan is to dominate Hutson physically. He started bending to avoid crosschecks, TBL cross checking the air trying to move him infront of Montembeault. GG.

Is Hutson a defender though? I mean his +/- is the worst amongst all Montreal defensemen and 2nd worst on the whole team...

He's an offensive defenseman and a PP specialist so points come naturally to him.

He is also below average defensively. Wolf wins. This was a topic on The Point on the NHL Network radio this afternoon. Wolf was the leading candidate, with Hutson & Celebrini in a dead heat for second.

Nah, he obviously has proper skills, I don't doubt it. I doubt he does have defensive skills, though, to call him a defender. He isn't a defender and isn't a goalscorer so goalscorers should be ahead of him.

I know people hate +/- stat, but Matheson plays 2 mins more and is -3 while Hutson is -10. Context matters, you know.

If you watched Michkov, you would be sure he should be a PPG+ player right now. But he isn't. So does actually watching games matter?

Sharks fans know this is a weak argument, especially since we championed Karlsson to win the norris with 101 pts and questionable defensive responsibility.

If Hutson is driving the PP and PP is winning them games, then that's useful. AND if it's so impactful, like Karlsson's offense was, then he should be celebrated for that facet of his game, not derided for what he doesnt have.
