so he is ssaying he is not going to waive his NMC and he is not going to happily give up "C"?

man the entitlement is strong here. Is Palpatine running the show behind the scenes?
Isn't the opposite of that he doesn't want to be here and would prefer not to have the responsibility of being Captain? That's not really what you want to hear from him.

I don’t doubt that they want to win. I don’t believe any athlete wants to lose.
The problem is the sum of the parts. Just because you have talent doesn’t mean it’s the best recipe.

We are obviously lacking traits in the core members. You can’t all be the same.
It always comes back to team make up and cap distribution, neither of which Dubas has a clue…….

Dubas is a good speaker and I guess that requires a certain kind of intelligence. But considering the resources he has available to him, some of his decision making is actually shocking. I don't think he really knows what he's doing, although he is really good at convincing people otherwise

we need a competent GM not a PR personnel.

Post-Mortem Monday: John Tavares

* Disappointed to not still be playing and building off Tampa series win. Says they still accomplished a lot and feels there was lots of growth this year, which was fueled the fire to get to the ultimate goal of winning

* Says there's a continued belief in the group. Says that while winning is difficult, the core have established a standard and a strong desire to win here.

* Says there were lots of good things with his game. Felt he was rewarded very well in the Tampa series, but snake bitten in the second round. Says there were lots of positives in his game throughout, from creating chances or doing things without the puck. Says there's lots of things he wants to improve at, and understands that in his role on the team, he has to be better.

* Doesn't anticipate taking too much time away from the ice this summer. Wants to work hard, feeling healthy and good about his game.

* Confirms that he's healthy, and was healthy throughout the playoffs.

* 5 years ago when he signed, says he had a ton of confidence & belief in the project here. Says he still has full belief in the players, foundation, and staff. Says you never know what the journey will look like, but his plan was always to take each season as an opportunity to learn and grow.

* Loves playing in Toronto. Made a commitment here to be a Leaf for 7 years, and he wants to be here. Loves being captain and takes responsibility very seriously. Feels very fortunate to play here as captain, and still feels tremendous opportunity to win is at their feet. No cause or reason to move his NTC

* Wants to continue to evolve his game and adapt. When he signed here, knew that towards later part of his contract + his age, he may be asked to adapt his game to the wing. Big picture, willing to do whatever it takes to help team win.

* Doesn't think team took Florida for granted, not being the expected Boston matchup in round 2. Felt they had plenty of opportunities to win games 1 and 2. Shows how small the margins are come playoff time.

* Through his experience, he knows just how hard it is to win at this time of year. Says any team that gets into the post season can win over a 2-month period. Wants group to use this as a learning experience to get better and improve.
Post-Mortem Monday: Ilya Samsonov

* Says he feels better after injury - was back on the ice before game 5. Confirms it was a neck injury. Says he was healthy before the neck injury in game 3. Didn't have any other issues

* Thanks his teammates and coaches for his first season in Toronto. Says it was disappointing result, but they will look positive into future.

* Wants to stay in Toronto. Says it's not his job, now down to his agent.

* Praises Matt Murray and Woller - calls them amazing people, who motivated each other every day to get better.

* Calls Woll amazing - very hard to come into playoffs like he did, and did amazing.

* Wants some time to think about how to improve as a goalie in the future. His focus right now is being a good husband and daddy for the next 20 days.

* Doesn't like Toronto traffic. Living downtown is hard. But loves the people. Says lots of fans are very friendly to him putting in good word. Says he's very shy, but calls the people and city great.

* Plans to spend time in Miami at a place in Ft. Lauderdale with his mother and family.

* Says he felt more consistent in his game this year. Less up and downs. Says he liked his season but wants to get better.

ROR might be the best free agent on the market, the class sucks. He has always chased the bag and there will be teams offering way more than we should. Accept that he's not re-signing.
Nothing wrong with chasing the money especially if you earn what your paid, the same can’t be said for many on this team who’s salaries dwarf anything ROR will be offered………

They are human, after all. People need to think about times they’ve come up short, or failed at something. It feels awful. It plays with your mindset a little.

These guys work hard, despite the lies that people with a beer gut typing on their phones/ computers tell themselves and others, and the players absolutely care about winning.
Sorry, this is all I could hear reading this.

The full clip definitely makes it sound like ROR is done here.

Lots of references to the team as "they" instead of "we", and apologizing for not getting the job done on the way out.

Very easy to make that conclusion - I made that conclusion as well.

the one for all and all for one mentality just doesn't exist in this group. you have a pos bennet running around like a jackass injuring a kid, then running your players and no response. Gudas does the same shit and no response.

thats not a "team" thats just a bunch of individual people stacked up.

The culture needs a complete overhaul.

Encouraging Matthews wants to re-sign. Just gotta get a good number that works for both sides. Dubas gambled on the cap rising last time, just pick a smart team friendly number. People are saying 13.5M + I think we lose that deal.

The Core were playing silly buggers with rookie Dubas to negotiate maximum salary with minimum term and all before accomplishing one little bitty successful thing as Leafs. It was cold and calculating selfishness and you can bet they "didn't feel awful" or that it "played with their mindset a little". More like high fives all 'round.

So, contrary to your sheltering, there is a valid history to Leaf fans current expectations. And no, I don't have a teenage six pack anymore... I'm working on a keg.

Mitch's words drizzling syrupy sweetness over Kyle, it's all about how Kyle makes them feel good.

F*** I miss Lou.

Mitch could learn to use the negativity and bad feelings from a playoff loss and let that be the fuel to drive you to greater success. Be more serious. Work more urgently and more focused. Dig deeper and other cliches.

Championships aren’t won by feeling good and keeping it light. It’s a very young world view.

Hopefully these playoff failures and backlash associated with their high price tag has instilled a strong sense of humility in him/the core .. perhaps that, and realizing the reality of cap space, would lend them to take much team friendlier deal.

A pipedream for sure.

I dont put much stock into these words so quickly after the season is over. The only think I am interested in is in Shanny's presser. By then we should have an idea if Dubas is here or not. The players exit interviews are a waste of time
Really? Look what happened with the Flames. Player laid it all out in those interviews and the organization made big changes.
If AM said he wouldn’t sign if KD Isn’t the GM or that the team needs new leadership that wouldn’t be helpful.
