So if Matthews is willing to re-sign before the start of next season, where does that leave Mitch with his NMC kicking in in ~5 weeks time?

This offseason seems different, the vibe I get is that the fans and analysts alike are all out for blood. Small moves aren't going to cut it.

Murray at 4.7 next year one and done, or Murray bought out costing $2m in 24-25 when new contracts come on books? Tough call.
I don't think he'll be hard to pony off if need be tbh. There is also the possibility of robidas island as well too? Who knows.

Gonna be a very interesting off-season for sure.

ROR sound bites are interesting. Really hoping he will be back bc he can change the culture of the team.

Acciari will most likely be back as long as he gets a contract around 1.5-1.8 and give him a year or two more.
I think ROR is the one player that you can get a read on with his interview. Without specifically saying one thing r another, it appears clear to me that he doesn't have faith in this group. Nor does he want to return.

He was so clear in how happy he was to be a Maple Leaf, and the pride that came with that. It really looks at this point that he has no interest in continuing that. Which is incredibly alarming. What did he see in his short time as a Leaf that has lead him to saying he "hasn't put much thought' into UFA??

there is obviously room for me to have misinterpreted his demeanor and delivery. But at the end of the day, it didn't look promising. And if that is in fact the case, then that is a major problem. When a guy like ROR shows that level of apathy, it speaks volumes IMO.

I feel like its so clear we have a losing culture in that room

Traded to somewhere else

I one can change the culture of this team except the GM, by launching the one do the two guys who run the room and decide who coach is - Marner.

They’ve brought in vet after vet and their effort and give a shit meter never changes because those two and the loser captain rule the roost
1. AM and MM are followers and not leaders. They seem to be dictating bc JT is too nice and political to do anything. Honestly, I do think they care about winning, for MM case, he cares too much. I also believe that they still don’t know what’s it takes to succeed in this league and win a Cup.
2. Removing JT for say JT Miller along with resigning ROR and the emergence of Reilly as a leader due to this last playoff will change the culture and see if AM and MM follow.
3. If AM and MM still don’t follow, you look into why that’s the case, and if it still can’t solve, you trade one of them.

Matthews statement of wanting extension done before July is news. Other then that par for the course, wouldn't expect anything more from it though. Dubas and Keefe still to come, that should be slightly more interesting, but not much. Expect the usual platitudes.

The shoe to drop is the Shanny statement/presser still to come some time in the relatively near future.
Thx

JT to Vancouver is actually not as far fetched as some might think. Aqualini, their owner wants a winning team, want big buzz around the team to sell tickets, want their leader to be more political, their MGT mindset is to build a team with vets instead of drafting and development, and they do have a guy on the team that can be available.
JT for JT and Garland(due to cap) makes sense bc they get a 1C and save close to 2mil on the cap.
Can't imagine Tavares waives for Vancouver (or practically any team) though.

To me, I think he knows he got options and want to see what those options are.
Also, I sense that he knows changes are coming and want to wait out those changes before committing.

It leaves us with pretty much too little cap to build a contender. Mitch has 2 years term left and probably some good value. I imagine he will be the one to be traded.
