We need a big bunch of Tkachuk types to support the top 6. For example:

Knies Matthews T.Wilson
M.Tkachuk B.Tkachuk Nylander

Need to remake our top 6. Bottom 6, Defence and Goaltending are good enough to win.
Must have some heavy hitters out there. Bring back a Sheriff. They won't take so many liberties on our guys that way and will rush their plays for fear. It worked on Marner perfectly for them.

Matthews doing this would be a bit more odd than Tavares having done so if competitiveness of team is at all a factor (barring some major step forward for ARI next season).
Yea, I'm just joking around. Can't imagine AM going to Zona, until his perhaps his retirement contract for a year or two

Most of our hits were nudges. When they hit they often hit to hurt which is obviously what any team with the intention of winning should do.

A lot of their hits were... borderline

Tkachuk was probably the most punished in the series with legal hits.

Tkachuk was considered a playoff dud until this year... now he is the best player to ever live

Sign Matthews long term, and start seriously building around him.

See if the Caps would be willing to do Marner for Wilson++ or whatever for example.

Even though I love him, I’d probably do the same with Nylander if his extension is too costly.

On the defensive end, we need to start get better transition defenders both at defending the rush and beginning a breakout.

Refs don’t call penalties in our games, neither for nor against. It’s fine we start taking advantage of that.

The thing about this city is we love, more and even winning, hard work. The city fell in love with the 2019 Raptors because they worked harder than ever other team. We glamorize the 90 and early 2000s Leafs for the same reason.

ROR sound bites are interesting. Really hoping he will be back bc he can change the culture of the team.

Acciari will most likely be back as long as he gets a contract around 1.5-1.8 and give him a year or two more.

I’ll believe it when the extension is announced.

It better be something reasonable or else we’re gonna be further stuck in purgatory for the foreseeable future.

You make an exception for a league wide top goal scorer. He is the guy you can overpay, you can't overpay Mitch Marners or Nylanders. They are just wingers even though they are good. You can also pay well to an established home grown tender and also an Elite 1D

No but its a need for out top 6 in particular.

Every team is different.

Especially with their arena situation among other issues. Coyotes fans seem to think Matthews in Arizona will grow fan support. I strongly doubt it.

Post-Mortem Monday: Mark Giordano

*Wasn't dealing with any injuries during playoffs.

*Believes in the core. Calls them great, unique players.

*Bitter day. All about playoffs, especially at this age. Didn't get the success he wanted, individually or with team. Hopeful that getting to the 2nd round is something they can build on.

Post-Mortem Monday: Morgan Rielly

*Feeling is all too familiar, but every year, feels just a little bit different.

*says every year you want progress and improvement, individually and as a team. says he does feel that there was improvement this year, but points out that they are in the same spot as usual, so it's hard to dissect that.

*says the hardest part is that he thinks there was a pathway forward through the teams remaining this year. Says when you turn the TV on and see teams still competing for the cup, the emotions kick in and makes the loss tough.

*Disappointed with outcome of Florida series. Credits Panthers for being opportunistic, but says team lacked a lot of stuff, which is why they are standing here.

*Hard to pinpoint what they lacked. Felt the moves Dubas made at the deadline were great. Very hard to identify what they lacked right now, and says it wasn't just one or two things.

*Believes in the core, and thinks everyone else should too. Highlights that we are standing here today talking after losing, so doesn't want to have blind faith & trust in the core. But says there are reasons to still believe in this group.

*Says regular season, and at times in playoffs, and speaking to his teammates after the loss, fuel his belief. Results are all that matters, but his personal belief is that he believes in them.

*Wants to take time to reflect on his own personal season. Says now is a time to think about the team, and what they could have done differently.

*Thinks the world of Kyle. Says what he did for the team this year, from training camp, to deadline, to day, calls him a world class GM. Everything that he did was in the team's best interest, and put team in position to play, and win, and succeed. Ultimately, players were the ones on the ice at the end of the season

This has Tavares vibes when he was with the Isles.

Also, how much cap should be invested in Matthews? I am not comfortable paying him anything more than 12 AAV for 8 years.

We need better roster construction and Matthews not taking a huge piece of the pie is the start.

So you think Matthews is going to play in Arizona? That'd be the only way it is comparable...

It‘a time we start building a team that

Marner for a package around Tom Wilson better include 3+ first rounders. Otherwise, it's a pretty lopsided trade.

I’d also like to hear the response if someone else off the core got traded before the extension.
