Well they need to sign the dotted line right.

$13.34m for Matthews and $8.88m for Nylander.

Nylander goes look I was dragged down by Tavares and still had a more points this his career year. Look at my playoff history let’s start talking at 10.5. That’s the problem with signing Tavares. Everyone looks at his contract and is like we’re all better then him soooo is it somewhere around 11.

If you're looking for big picture takeaways from today so far: Players are giving Kyle Dubas a vote of confidence, potentially pressuring the organization to get that extension over the line.
Is this supposed to be some kind of shocker?

When they got their big pay days a few years back, who gave it to them? Why the hell would they wanna pass on this gravy train again?

Maximum salaries, minimum term, a DJ at practices, no playoff loss consequences, management-approved coach killer attitudes... I'd want Kyle at my side too.

Also the reason to fire the GM and get a new one. You get the, yeah well mistakes were made under previous management. The data shows it, here here and here.

Watched Tavares from the O to the Islanders. To make it seem like those two situations are even close to similar is humourous.

It was a carousel of wingers for Tavares there and you think this was hard here? it was worse there man. Ownership was a mess too, arena deal...etc.
I wonder why he said what he did then?

Throwing the GM or a teammate under the bus would be idiotic.
No but every year there's always a Matt Tkachuk story of a big name player wanting out of an organization.

Atleast we never have that problem in here in TO.

I don't know. Why are you and dark knight trolling me on this? Who gives a f***? I'm not sitting and watching 33 hours of leaf playoffs. I'm just checking in to see who might be getting fired today. If you are watching all the 33 hours of Leafs playoff hockey and I'm not, then what's it to you?
Was it 33 hours? I didn't realize that. Now I don't feel any differently about it...

Again putting an odd emphasis on the time as if to say you spent 33 hours of your spring better than we did. It's odd. I'm glad you enjoyed those 33 hours. I did too.

I don't think I'm trolling - I just find it odd that you care more about the post season interviews than the actual playoff games that matter, and more so that you felt the need to tell us you didn't watch any games. Like he said, it came across like you were somehow smarter than us for not wasting your time or something. Not a big deal.
Oh it's easy with this team.

Haha yeah no kidding. If I’m a leaf player I want Kyle going nowhere. Paid max money, no need to be accountable, country club atmosphere, coach even looks at me the wrong way I’ll get Kyle to have a chit chat with him haha, the dream job

I mean, he did get an Osmow's endorsement and commercial almost immediately after being traded here. Doubt he got much of that in St.Louis or will get that anywhere else at this point in his career. If someone offers him millions more though obviously you just have to move on.
But what does one commercial get a player like him, even in Toronto. I remember reading that Red Bull gives $500,000 to Phaneuf to wear their hat after games. Marner took over that for Red Bull, maybe with a slight raise (depending on when and how long the contract was signed). I think I read that the top nhl players are making around 2 million for endorsements. So a guy like Oreilly on Toronto is probably getting $250000 if he's lucky. I don't think that will offset the money/term a different team should be able to offer over us.

Nah. Auston's LA will be a mansion in a patrolled gated community neighbouring Nancy Pelosi.

I think he is right leaning. Probably live in the country on an estate where he can shoot the cars he doesn't care about anymore with Biebs.
