Whenever the management team makes a questionable decision, the usual defense is that it must be the result of meddling ownership or misinformation from the media. But honestly, I'm starting to believe that many of the poor decisions we've seen in recent years, which seem to be happening more often lately, are simply the product of a subpar management group, one that includes an aging executive who just made a horrific mistake.
It now feels inevitable that we'll lose the greatest player in franchise history without getting a proper return. On top of that, we're jeopardizing our relationship with our top RD prospect. I’ve stayed quiet about how they’ve handled Willander, but at this point, it’s looking more and more like I’ll be changing my username again. Maybe he'll go on to be a first-pair RD for another team, but my loyalty is to the team, not this particular player.
I’ve been a fan of this team since 1994, and even after leaving the city in 2007 for a job, I’ve stuck with this team through everything. I've also been a daily user of this website, following the team fanatically, but this is really testing my loyalty in ways I didn’t expect.
With my kids growing up in New York, I wonder if I should make the switch to being a Rangers or Islanders fan, but deep down, I know I never really could. And that’s what makes all of this so painful.
