This was Alvin at the seasons ticket holder meeting. He basically says that Miller came back from the summer in tip top shape ready to win a Stanley cup. But there was other younger players who came back and weren't as dialed in. "some of the younger guys" he says
It sounds to me like Miller was riding these "younger players" hard. Does Petterson still count as a younger player ? Who else could he be talking about ?
I call BS on this. Who were these "younger players?" Certainly not Hughes. In the past, Miller was reported to be with the veteran's group (i.e. they paced themselves at training camp). From the regulars last season, Hoglander again came in at "tip top shape." Petey was a guy who traditionally aced the training camp bag skates. From Dayal and Drance's article in the Athletic:
So who is Alvin talking about? Certainly not Garland? Boeser got off to a quick start before he was concussed and didn't look out of shape to me. Joshua was recovering from cancer. Can't be Suter or Blueger? Other than Hronek and Soucy or the goalies there aren't really any "younger players" from last year unless he's talking about the likes of Aman, Raty etc. which seems silly as they weren't big contributors to last season's success. While Pettersson revealed Thursday that the tendinitis in his knee is still nagging at him and that he had to train around it this summer, his pace looks normal. His skating actually looks a bit more powerful than it has in years past.
Far from being concerned about Pettersson, this is an exciting start to the campaign for the Canucks star centre.
I can't imagine he's talking about the new guys? Can't be Debrusk and Sherwood? I mean Sprong reportedly was in excellent shape. Desharnais (as if anyone cares?)
