Rumor: End of an era with Boeser and Canucks. Boeser: "Honestly its unlikely at this point (to re-sign)". Where does he go and for how much?

I can't see Boeser getting much more of a salary than he is now. Apart from the 23-24 season when he scored 73 points he's pretty much been in the 46-56 point range.

Using the rule of thumb, well mine anyway, of awarding $100,000 for every point that puts him in the 5.6M per year range.

If you include his 23-24 season that ups his career average to 64 points a season or 6.4M which is just below his average 6.677 in his last contract.

So does a team throw out the outlier year or go with his career average? Anything more is an overpay.

I think Vancity would be wise to either trade him prior to the draft or sign him to a short term, if expensive, deal until they can make a better deal.

In an interview yesterday, Boeser says its unlikely at this point that he and the Canucks come to an agreement with a new contract.

Been a rollercoaster ride with Boeser and the Canucks. Canucks tried to trade him when the new management of Allvin and Rutherford came in a couple of years ago.No takers. Boeser then requested a trade and They even gave permission for Boeser's agent to seek a trade. no Takers. Boeser has a good season and rescinds the trade requests and says he wants to stay in Van long term. Van doesnt want to commit too long and offers 4,5,6 yr deals. Boeser declines. Management then is open to trading him at the trade deadline but the rumored best offer they got was a 2nd round pick.

Very Smart player, clutch, accurate shot.. Very slow skater and cannot carry a line on his own. He will need to play with a high level playmaking Centre to get the most out of his game.

So where does he sign this off-season and for how much. The Canucks reported best offer to Boeser that got turned down was 5-6 yrs at 8mil AAV.

Well, the Oilers need to pursue an upgrade in Goal and on Defense. Therefore the only logical thing for Bowman to do is sign a forward like Boeser as a free agent.

When boeser turned down 5 years, what he is really saying “I know I’ll be cooked by year 5 of that deal, so I want 7 years”
i didnt think it was possible for Brock to skate any slower. I guess in 5 years we will see.

Im really hoping someone outright overpays for him or he circles back and gives the Canucks a team friendly deal.

Owners don’t meddle.

They own.

it’s nice to have folk passionate and involved. It gives the situation character and intrigue. The nhl is the circus, here to profit above all. You would probably find less enjoyment if things were more sterile.

Only 1 in 32 achieve their goal any given season. It’s much more likely than not your team will fail the coming 5 seasons. It’s easy to criticize risky decision making that doesn’t result in glory. That being said, some folk lose the competition to others and the historic record captures that. I find it harder to criticize folk in the modern era because the system is forcing a divide in parity. The taxation situation and all that comes with it makes some of the okay look great and some of the okay look horrible. Hard to really nail down the pigeons and the eagles.
I'd say both posts you're responding to are wrong, but end result is the Canucks situation with ownership (Francisco Aquillini) was in a pretty unique place for a bit.

First off is the Canucks being more or less bad for 10 years and how that relates to management/ownership, that's pretty much all on Jim Benning being a generational bad GM and having control of the team for 8 years. In regards to ownership, some will meddle to a certain degree, but from all appearances by the end it seemed like Benning basically had the owner working in the room with him as an AGM. Not so much 'meddling' as voluntary collaborating between two people who shouldn't be anywhere near an NHL front office.

Management doesn't have to listen to ownership, but that can get them fired. That happened to Dave Nonis when Aquillini told him to pull the trigger on a deadline trade in 2008 for I believe Ryan Kesler, Alex Edler, and Corey Schneider, which Nonis wouldn't do and was fired for it that summer. New incoming management can also tell ownership 'look we'll take the job but you have to be hands off', which is what we have now we Rutherford/Allvin.

In my opinion a lot of my fellow Canuck fans have just been bitter that Rutherford/Allvin are trying to build a competitive team rather than rebuilding, and projecting that this is still on Aquilini meddling with the team and not a voluntary choice to in this case not trade Boeser at the deadline.

As far as Boeser is concerned, it really seems a matter that he expects to get more on the UFA market than what the Canucks are offering, so whether that happens or not remains to be seen and if it's the latter I wouldn't be surprised if he circles back to the Canucks. Hard to blame the Canucks when while he's had a season or two at a higher pace he's really not contributing much/any more to the team than Garland or Debrusk.

Kind of yes. But only because I think I know better.

In fact its the perfect almost 3 year mark where Allvin could be putting the final touches on said rebuild while we pick 15th for the last time.

Instead, Boeser is about to walk for nothing, Demko has completely broken down to worthless, Petey has made himself untradable right before his NMC kicks in, Miller went awol and had to be sold off for a 29 yr old we then signed for 6 years, and Hughes is the only thing worth a damn in the whole orginization and we will have to force every move to appease him while trading the 15th overall pick likely.

But..... he have Hronek and Mpetey to show for 3 years.

Recency bias maybe. I dunno. The guy just sold Ovechkin jerseys on his official team shop so I have alot of ammo in the market to project on him about. He makes it easy.

And yeah man he definetly had a hand in not trading Boeser.

May I point to the Pittsburgh two 1sts offer for Miller?

If I cant sell getting NHL players back today, dont do it. Deep down you know that was the mandate.

Its neat that you can write but don't understand the meanings of words.
They think you hate the Canucks despite you being on the record for saying “Quinn Hughes is a gamer, I’ll admit”

If you trade for Ep40 as well you automatically get Canadian Legend Michael Buble who works the same hours and time in a year as Mariah Carey's christmas song yet is somehow also rich as balls.

Not even for a limited time. This offer doesnt expire.

A team like the hawks has to get to the next level here so forwards who can score really help the Bedards of the world. Is he the top end forward no but there isn't exactly big-time pickings out there.

So much logic in one post, some in this fanbase need the reality check it sadly seems.
