Has anyone else reached the point of emotional numbness in life where they don’t really base their happiness on mercurial stuff like the Leafs? I’ll still tune in time to time this season hope Nylander gets a goal or 2 but don’t really watch every single regular season game. The playoffs I still feel attached to but the regular season feels like a redundant waste largely with last seasons playoffs being the straw that broke this fans back. I guess the thought is what’s the point of getting really tuned in when there’s a precedent of failing in the 1st round even giving up significant series leads and folding at the sight of real pressure.

I don't care at all anymore. When they lost to Boston the second time I started to care less, the third time, significantly less....a none playoff team in CBJ? A lot less. Blowing a 3-1 series lead to an abysmal Montreal team? A ton less.

When Dubas failed to address yet another pitiful choke but not only standing pat, but actively turning down assets just to be a stubborn fool and replacing Hyman with fourth line garbage, that's when any small amount of care I had left went out the window.

I've been numb for a long time with them, which I'm grateful for. When I was a little kid I used to be crushed when the early 00s teams got eliminated. I have no sentimental attachment to this current team due to their lack of heart. they're too much garnish and not enough meat. just an unlikable roster outside of a few guys like Spezza. I still wanna build around Matty/Nylander but certain players like marner/tavares take up so much of the cap and to me they are 2 players i've never understood the love for. ones a mute, the other is a bratty coward.

I used to be the eternal optimist when it came to the Leafs, but last year's collapse really did it for me. I am finding it tough to care.

I was eating dinner in front of the TV tonight so turned on the game. I was semi-interested, and my dog likes to watch. But after watching about ten minutes of that second period I realized that I am actively rooting for them to lose - not because I want to see them do poorly, but because I want Keefe and Spreadsheet gone. I want them replaced before it is too late, and while the season is still easily salvaged - so before the twenty game mark. I want a new coach and GM who can turn this team around, and if the 18 wheeler has to go off the cliff for that to happen then so be it.

I used to love Marner, but now I want a GM who will trade his ass.

This latest crap with them asking to be allowed to dress casually really rubbed me the wrong way too. It is not that I am against smart, business casual clothes. My issue is that they initiated it and Spreadsheet gave in. If that decision was going to be made it should have come from the top down, not the bottom up. These players need to be put in their place.

I wonder if Lou would come back? Nah, I know he won't but this team needs highly experienced hockey people in both the coach and GM roles. And they need them before the twenty game mark.

Greed absolutely killed this team. We were all really happy for a rebuild and were crying for it practically but as soon as the rebuild started and was going as planned the management and the fans acted equally stupid with this accelerated rebuild crap. There’s no precedent for this. Something is working why do you have to ruin it? If we kept rebuilding we would have been in the same place - ie 5 first round exits but this team would a lot more likely be extremely well built.

Like this is the first time you make the playoffs since starting a rebuild, you don’t have Sidney Crosby or Malkin on your roster, it’s very evident you’re not going to win, and these clowns decide to keep JVR and Bozak on expiring contracts as “own rentals” (so cringe). They just got sucked into the hype as did the fans seeing a tinge of success. Adults should generally never be that fair weather/emotionally driven. It was obvious to everyone those teams will never win.

JVR should have been traded
Bozak should have been traded
Brian Boyle should not have been acquired on an expiring contract in the middle of a rebuild for 6 games against the caps.
Tavares should have never been signed not at that age not at that price not with the redundancy of 3 already high end forwards.

But the fans and management just go haywire at the sight of a tiny bit of success.

before the rebuild: we want our own superstars we draft we don’t want to sign other players teams on much more expensive contracts based on what they did in the past with most of their best days behind them
Middle of rebuild: omgggg a superstar. *Brain goes haywire*

I’m still a newish fan. Started watching it properly in 2019 vs Boston.. every loss still feels like a gut punch by mike tyson

I can't remember the last time I watched a full Leafs game. The series loss to Montreal was the last straw for me.

I mean how can you cheer for these pathetic losers that have no heart?

Really hurts when I think the amount of skill we have in Marner, Matthews, Nylander...if only they played like they actually want to win the cup.

I've stopped watching games. Still check in over here to see what's up. But yeah, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results was always insanity.

I knew this was coming last year. We were bad last year, and got worse.

Too many useless toxic players. Changes have to be made. BIG changes.

When they overpaid Marner I knew Dubas wasn't going to do what it takes to win.

Acquiring Tavares when we needed D seemed risky to me

Relying on cheap goalies seems risky as well.

It's clear the fans care more than the players.

The team goes through the motions.

It wasn't Babcock. It's the players.

Knew this team was in trouble when Nylander signed and then told the media "I called Dubas and told him let's get this done" and also "dubas told me he wouldn't trade me"

This was the beginning of Dubas being neutered by players.

Next was Marner, after he signed, he wrote his arrogant "thank you letter" like he was LeBron James. He even said "I called dubas and told him let's get this done"

You can see the level of wisdom and knowledge experience gave Babs and Lou in the way they conducted themselves.... you can see the lack of it in Keefe and Dubas. They are learning for sure, you can literally see them hardening with every mistake this team makes, but it's coming through the school of hard knocks instead of from mentors advice and it's coming at the expense of us fans who see our best chance at a cup since 67 being squandered.

I have 0 hope or expectations from this group. I do feel for some of the players, like Spezza and Rielly. But our top guns are overpaid and continually underperform. I am just expecting therm to go nowhere, because even 5 years after we drafted franchise player, this team doesnt stand a chance and isnt even a sniff of a contending team.

Wonder were all the Kyle supporters are now?

I haven’t watched a second of this season or preseason, and I’ve found myself to be lot happier for it

At least they’re not building false hope so far this season.
Damn they really need to add in mod quotas for minimum games watched

The fans made literally zero decisions that affected the team. How in the f*** are we being blamed for this shite we are seeing on the ice. I didn't sign any of these bargain bin useless players.

After the Montreal series I didn't care at all about this season. We could finish first overall in the regular season but we'd still choke in the first round.

When Kotkaniemi scored the OT winner in game 6, I became completely numb. I knew game 7 wasn't going to turn out well, and they managed to do absolutely nothing (did they even create a scoring chance before garbage time?).

I don't get rattled after losses anymore. In fact, I just laugh it off by reading Twitter/HFBoards and all the memes lol.

The players on this team give me a bad vibe. They don't seem to give a shit. They keep bringing in players to change the culture but what ends up happening is that those players just end up playing like the players here.

I stopped caring after the collapse to the Habs. Hockey can be boring to watch at the best of times and even worse when the players you're rooting for are greedy and show zero heart. Looking back, I probably respect Kadri more than any player in a long time. He has a knack for crossing the line, but he gave a shit. When you look at the players Dubas has given up to keep the 4 forwards, he has essentially gutted the heart of what made this team so exciting.

Yep. This is the motto for 90% of leaf fans im sure.

Got my $ for Raps and Jays and even TFC before the leafs right now

Am not spending even a penny on anything leafs related as long as dubas is teh gm.

as a gm he spits on the fans and we are suppose to be ok with it? yea.... NO!
