Also, as someone who actually lives in Vegas, we are getting to a point where we are just California Jr in terms of cost of living. We don't have state income tax, but not a cheap place to live.
This is what happens to most low tax places - as soon as it gets to be a hot place to live the no/low taxes mean they need to get the revenue somewhere else (sales taxes, fees, etc) so there are no real savings for normal people. Florida and Vegas as examples make huge amounts of tax revenue from out of state visitors.
Since most of the taxes that fund these states tend to be regressive it benefits hockey players at the top of the income brackets.
