3 goals in his last 5 games. On pace for over 20 goals with only 10 mins of ice time.

He’s now sitting 10th for points amongst rookies. He’s surrounded by some very interesting names but they all got more ice time.

All this with 26 NHL games experience. He’s starting to feel comfortable out there and should be given more responsibilities. Put the jetpack on him and let’s see how high he can go.

He should have a full time job on the 3rd line, at least.

Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
Laine- Newhook-Gally (Newhook plays better as a centerman)
Heineman-Evans-Anderson
Pezz- Dach or Dvorak - Armia

You can trade any on that 4th line and bring some sand paper and size.

Flames did well getting Sharangovich + 3rd for Toffoli

Not sure what else he needs to do be given a top 6 role over someone like Newhook or Dach

Frankly he would add great one time option on the first PP unit. A much needed lefty at that

He doesn't play center to replace Dach.

In the case of Newhook, Heineman was actually on the top 6 twice. It did not stick. So either Hughes told MSL to play Newhook on the top 6, or MSL didn't like how Heineman responded when pit against top opposition.
 
Its to early to put a limit to his potential. I will be super happy if he turn out to be a excellent 3rd line players that can move on the top 6 when needed.

In the near future I would love a 3rd line that looks like this :

Heineman - Beck - Tuch

Heineman and Tuch able to lay big hits and score and Beck being the perfect 200 ft center able to create offense and shutdown top line.

Thats a really good 3rd line if they all progress well.

He's a round peg and we currently have some round holes in our top six.
Ultimately we need a couple of solid wingers who can skate like the wind hit hard and tie up the play.
He deserves the opportunity to be that peg on this team.

Beck remind me a lot of Suzuki. Not the flashy type of player but a super effective / intelligent player.

If I had to put money on his role with the Canadiens in the future I would most likely put him at 3rd line center. But he seems to always progress since we draft him. Its hard to know is real potential.

Player like this (Suzuki, Beck, Plekanec) find a way to be better every year because they understand the game at an another level than a vast majority of players. They dont rely on skillset to be effective, they rely on their IQ and thats what make them hard to project long term. Each year they understand the game better and they play smarter.

Anyway if he turn out to be a good 3rd line player I would love to see him play with Emil. I think they could make a really good duo

I fear playing him in a top 6 role may overwhelm him. He is developing very nicely in his current role. There isn't a rush to change anything.

Man does he have some jam though. What a pleasant suprise!

I'd like them to do this though:

Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield
Newhook-Evans-Laine
Anderson-Dach-Heineman

There was a shift when Dach was with Slaf and Anderson last night and it looked pretty good. I think we might be better served giving Dach some speed and beef on his wing, bring him into the fight that way and get him used to moving his feet to stay on the same page as his linemates.

There's only 1 way to find out no? What's to lose? Losing more games? Any the issue right now, is not being top 6. It,s who the centerman of that 2nd line should be......Clearly not Dach.

I'd try this...it's not optimum but...

Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
Heineman-Newhook-Laine
Anderson-Dvorak-Gallagher
Dach-Evans-Armia (the lesser responsabilities possible to Dach. The worst opposition for him as well)

If Newhook shits the bed at C, replace him with Evans.

Are any of our trades looking like home runs outside of the Monahan deals? Serious question I'm sure I'm missing a couple
 
Most of KH trade so far were to getting ride of deads woods or for getting more drafts picks and prospects because his plans is to rebuild the team.

I think he did a pretty good job so far by getting a lot of drafts picks, considering he start with a really bad rosters and bad contract giving by MB.

He could have been more lucky on some trades and nobody would question his decisions. Sadly the acquisition of Dach, Newhook and Barron dont look so good right now but its too early to say that they are bad trade.

Sometime its about luck. For example Marc Bergevin was trying to get Glass in the Pacioretty trade but he got Suzuki. At the end he looks like a genius on this trade but Suzuki was not the target. Young prospect are always a gamble when you trade for them. I think KH didnt got any luck so far but im sure it will eventually turn in his favor.

Im giving a 6/10 for his trade so far. If Dach find his game back it could jump to a 8.

We will see.

Can he play RW? If yes, lets try him on 1st and 2nd now. He diserves the shot.
