I've always hated them. But they have had players I've respected the crap out of. I would have loved to have had Sergei Zubov and/or Darryl Sydor on the Avs.Is there a more dislikable team than Dallas?
Duchene... What a loser. There is a reason our team got better after he left. Sitting crying about the refs after a game they had no business even being in. Yep that's the reason you lost not that your team got outworked in every aspect of the game today. So glad we don't have listen to his excuses.
DeBoer is a crybaby, which is a perfect fit for Dallas.
Benn is a cheap shot artist and generically one of the worst guys in the NHL.
Rantanen is the new Mr. Moneybags, hope the circus you and your agent put on the last 2 months was worth it. I hope he enjoys 75-80 pts he isn't going to have those 100+ years any more. Will never cheer for him again.
Can we get Mike Modano for a 2C? I mean he’s 54 but looks younger than NelsonI've always hated them. But they have had players I've respected the crap out of. I would have loved to have had Sergei Zubov and/or Darryl Sydor on the Avs.
Eric Clapton has a song that would be fittingBorn to be Wild?
Dirty Deeds?
Crazy Train?
Yea sameI am actually eating crow with Lindgren. He's been as fantastic as we can ask for. Sure a mental lapse here and there but less than the alternative would be.
The refs made a bad call on Marchment when it was clear Toews is the one that tripped Makar.
Other than that, which of the penalties were debatable?
- Jamie Benn runs the goalie for a clear goaltender interference penalty.
- Benn then high sticks resulting in blood. Automatic 4 minutes.
- Lyubushkin handles the puck like a grenade, it gets chipped past him and he doesn’t even pivot to go for the puck just two hands stops and interferes.
Like, those three are as automatic as they get.
Now, let’s look at our gripes…
- f***wad Furlatt makes no effort to get out of the way on our clearing attempt, resulting in Dallas’ first goal. Fine, “bad luck” but this asshole is brutal with us every game.
- Robertson viciously cross checks Makar to the face, Cale drops down hurt and holding his face. No call.
- Girard, Lehkonen, MacKinnon were all slewfooted on different occasions. Girard one was super blatant behind our net.
Those were just off the top of my head.
Once it was obvious Dallas couldn’t skate with us, DeBoer resorted to “playoff hockey” with stickwork on every shift. They got away with tons for a regular season game and have no leg to stand on when it comes to gripes or complaints.
Like, what the f*** is this…
The bounce off the ref was obviously unlucky, but the Avs did get the puck first after that bounce and then failed to clear again. It's self inflicted to an extent, just like the last two goals, and they have to be better at clearing the puck.So a lot of you might disagree but I didn’t like Wedgewood’s game today. He seemed like he was fighting the puck a lot (gave up a TON of bad rebounds, including the one on Duchene’s GTG) and just didn’t look comfortable back there. I will give him credit for making some huge saves at least. He wasn’t horrid but this wasn’t anything like his last performance.
Overall I liked the Avs game, they played aggressively and there really weren’t any passengers today. Only issues was when they screwed up they screwed up BAD (except for that first goal, f*** you ref). Prime example—an inexcusably bad turnover by Sammy G leads directly to the Duchene goal. Can’t do that shit in the playoffs.
So far I really like Lindgren. He’s been surprisingly good. Dude handles the puck reasonably well and is aggressive but isn’t insanely so like Manson can be at times.
Anyway big win. Would’ve been much bigger had they not blown the lead.
Did Duchene have a 30 goal scored bonus that year? Might also explain the celebrationI mean, I get it. It was the first time in his career he'd scored 30 goals. I have little problem with the celebrition, honestly. To me, it's a nothing burger, and Roy overreacted. If he had scored 30 before, and did that, sure, then be pissed; but let the kid enjoy a big accomplishment in his career, on a team that was utter dogshit.
Where I have a problem with Duchene is the way he pouted and forced his way off the team. Clearly he was a team cancer by that time. IMO, he clearly hates the Avs organization now. You can see it in his celebrating every time he scores a goal vs them. From a fan-boy, who was drafted by his childhood favorite team, to hating them and celebrating like a effing idiot when he scores vs them. Makes my blood boil. FTG.
I recognize Modano's importance and place in US hockey history, but he always seemed a bity whiny for my liking. Can we get Mike Modano for a 2C? I mean he’s 54 but looks younger than Nelson
I f***ing hate them, since the 90s, moreso than Minny for example. And i worry about meeting them in the play-offs, cause i honestly believe they have our number, always had, at least more often than not. Yesterday was another fine example, despite outshooting and outplaying them, the game still ended up with a tie and we needed Makar individual brilliance to win it.Happy for the win, but when playoffs start and the refs put away the whistles, we better be ready this time.
That 3rd period was a first look for the playoffs. They wont outplay us, but they will try to outworn us again.
If you cant beat them, hurt them....
I dont give a shit about this "Dallas changed their style"... No, they will play the exact same DeBoer-Style like last year. And ffs i really hope Bednar and his crew are prepared and are finally able to counter this style.
He used to be my fav Avs player, before we got Nate, and for sure, he soured on me as well. I would not be surprised if he had a strong dislike for Avs org now, so its not difficult to dislike him based on that assumption.I mean, I get it. So our bet stands right? If Nuke gets a series winning goal, you and Dman wear a Nuke sweater for a year.
If Nuke goes into the player assistant program again I and whoever else wants to join me will wear your avatar, likely something resembling the cocain bear lol.
There is no defending Duchene. He is the one who requested the trade from the Avalanche and he said during the press conference after with Ottawa that he wanted to play playoff hockey as a major reason for his request. He used to be my fav Avs player, before we got Nate, and for sure, he soured on me as well. I would not be surprised if he had a strong dislike for Avs org now, so its not difficult to dislike him based on that assumption.
But bit to his defense now - he used to be a fan like we are. But then things did not go well, which happens during the rebuilds, and he was not the only one to blame. At the time we were rather top heavy team with weak defense, we needed to fix that, and unfortunately for him, he was the one that had to go to do that - even if he did not want to...and to make things worse, it took months to execute it, during which time he had to live in uncertainity, knowing its gonna happen, not knowing when - i mean, it surely sucked and might have broken him mentally, if he truly was the cancer on the team before the trade, that was the reason, and it was not completely his fault. There were circumstances out of his hands that led to it - i usually dont have much sympathy for people earning millions, but they are human too, after all.
On topic of Mikko, we now believe its all his fault for being greedy, but TBF, if its true he was surprised about the trade and would have accepted Avs terms if he knew he was a goner otherwise (and seeing the money he signed for with Dallas seem to suggest he would), the FO could have handled whole thing better as well. I mean, just tell him straight, either accept this, or get traded now, or if there was never intention to sign him in the first place, cause we could have someone like Necas for half the price, just tell him sorry, we believe we have to move one and cant afford you for that kind of money in the future...
Whatever was said, i dont remember specifics, but i am pretty sure, even if it was him who ultimately requested the trade, the reason was not because he somehow could not wait to play play-offs over staying with his childhood club. The reason was surely that we have been dangling him as trade-bait for over a year, whether he liked it or not, and he must have grown tired of it.There is no defending Duchene. He is the one who requested the trade from the Avalanche and he said during the press conference after with Ottawa that he wanted to play playoff hockey as a major reason for his request.
That's the difference between he and Landeskog, because during that same timeframe when Landeskog was in trade rumours he reportedly bypassed his agent and went to Sakic himself to tell him he wants to stay.
A leader vs a whiner.
That is how a FO loses support of a fanbase and is ultimately shown the door themselves. IMO the FO never had any intention of signing him but had to in a way pin it on Rantanen, which they did masterfully by sticking to lowball offer that Rantanen repeatedly turned down.He used to be my fav Avs player, before we got Nate, and for sure, he soured on me as well. At least it’s not Gravenhurst or Keswick.F*** Matt Duchene. He's also from Haliburton, and anyone familiar with the area would know that he embodies that place. Just a bunch of whiners who think they're better than they are
