Don’t think the Canucks should trade him what so ever. I think they should let him rest his knee because it’s clearly causing the issue with skating speed declining and him not being able to get power on his shot like he normally can.

The decline from when he’s at his best speed and shot power wise compared to now. His defense has actually gotten better so it’s not an effort issue with him.

The problem with the "rest him until he's 100%" argument is that - and someone can correct me if I'm wrong here - playing doesn't make it worse and there's no timeline for when it will heal.

So like, what if he still has this issue through April, May, June? What if it's still there next October? Allegedly it didn't heal over the entire summer.

How long can you afford to keep him out of the lineup? What is a reasonable amount?

That's the problem with this whole situation: it's so vague. It makes it easy to rest on the injury laurels.

I know we have a bad history with our medical staff but I know for a fact if there was even a slight possibility that this was due to a serious injury the organization would be more proactive. Or Pettersson himself would make them be proactive. We've seen players start to talk to the media (even though players usually don't like whining publicly about injuries) when there's a clear disconnect with the organization about the issue. If it was an injury that wasn't being handled right we'd know by now. It would be indeed be a scandal like we've seen in the past.

And there's absolutely no sign of a scandal.

I wonder what the Canucks are doing here with Petey. In baseball when a pitcher loses his velocity that gets analyzed and worked on.

We can speculate on reasons that led to his current slump, and he can say all the right things to the team, fans and media, but at the end, the question above is what he'll have to contend with.

I was in that place before, it feels like I put in the effort, and I tried to talk myself up but without tangible result, all of that is worthless.

Pete needs to get himself out of this quagmire - the walls are closing in, and the focal point of the magnifying glass will heat up very quickly.

Hes a Calder winning PPG player. Drance looked back at all career PPG players and none of them fall off permenantly.

This happened to Willy Nylander too. But even this year probably won't even be as bad as his slump

There's really nothing closing in on him. He has a guaranteed contract. As they all do in the NHL.

I don't think the blathering online about his contract concerns him too much.

The sooner everyone just moves on from it, the sooner it will turn around. And it will.

Its also funny to read ppl getting more outraged because his contract is 4 million more than it was. It's just numbers. Pro athletes are overpaid. It has always been this way.

I'll continue to think the same personel that was incompetent before and is still employed is still incompetent until I see a reason to change my mind.

Ive yet to hear an alternative explanation why his top speed has fallen from 94th percentile to 50th percentile ever since the injury that is "not causing his poor play" surfaced.
