So, so true!! LOL! There are so many glass half empty people here occupying prime posting positions.

Win the Cup and many will say "but we mortgaged our future!!"

Don't win the Cup and more will be calling CMac every name under the Sun because... "you mortgaged our future....".

Sorry but I just can't see anyone being happy (esp MacK) once MacK's legs leave him and watching him turn into a defensive forward like Sakic became..... (Hell, I speculated that Joe put his hand in that snow blower deliberately as a retirement strategy........ lol)
They used to edit me for saying he stuck his dickskinner intentionally into the operation end fo the auger on a snow blower. Takes balls of granite to hate your team so much that you'd do that instead of coming back for 10 games to end your career after a back injury caused by... checks notes... shoveling his own damn driveway in the first place? Come ON!!!

Hate to be Scrooge here but I’m kind of indifferent to bringing him back. It’s good in what he can do for others...if he’s a good presence in the locker room etc.

But regarding some of the comments. Yes, he gave a lot to the organization. But the organization reciprocated. He made 6M when that was a lot of money and was injured a lot. His last year in Colorado the pairings going into the season were Toews-Makar, Byram-Manson, and Girard-Johnson. That third pairing was an 11M pairing. EJs victory lap season after the cup was extremely costly. The cost of that victory lap season was Kadri. And the team has been struggling with that loss since. I think the Avs and EJ were square after that last season. And maybe before that. Quite honestly, I wasn’t even thinking he’d be playing still. Buffalo’s contract to him was a vast overpay. And he chose the money. Maybe I’m dead inside, but I think Johnson has been more than well compensated for his pain and suffering.

I get the sentiment and nostalgia. It meant a lot when he went off on Duchene and wanting to be here. But let’s not pretend the team didn’t reciprocate. But hey, if he helps in the lockerroom, maybe that’s something?

In a way, him and his NTC cost the team Kadri, Byram, and Ritchie!

It was costly but it was up to CMac to make the hard decision to do a buyout.

Is he good enough to play as a #6 here or is this just injury insuarance?
Of the 8 Flyers defensemen to play more than 10 games this season, EJ ranks:

7th in Corsi
Last in Shots For
Last in Shots Against
Last in xGF
Last in xGA
6th in Scoring Chances Against
7th in High Danger Chances Against
1st in On-Ice Sv% (lol)
2nd in Offensive Zone Starts
6th in Giveaways
1st in Hits
Last in Blocks

So yeah... this is a very, very cooked player.

Look at the videos, he's been playing the class clown in Philadelphia. Their weird media, Tortorella shouting all the time and no chance of winning would make any man check out. He'll see the chance to win his BFF/lover another cup and go through walls to do so.

Meh.... From here, I'm happy. The boys will be happy, morale up, and more jump = better play. Were there better dmen we could have grabbed? Yeah... Am I unhappy that he basically cost us kadri etc... Sure but meh, why hold a grudge lol..

I didn't like seeing EJ on other teams, it felt wrong. My heart is happy but my logical hockey mind is... Meh ok sure

Big surprise here! :propeller

Just listened to some of the EJ presser:

“I’m not here to retire. I’m not here for a swan song. I’m here to win a cup. I’ll do whatever it takes. 5 minutes a night, 10 minutes a night, 15 minutes a night. I’ll shovel snow between intermissions. Whatever they need.”

I honestly don’t think anyone has appreciated pulling on the Avs sweater more than EJ. I don’t think anyone is expecting anything great from him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his game took a small up-tick back in the burgundy and blue.
