I think Lil will sit.Benoit has shown some cracks in his game lately. He's still a good story and I like him but Edmundson likely provides a little more consistency if we need a big shot blocker late in a game.
I will say it's more likely Edmundson draws in for Benoit while they probably keep some sort of rotation as bumps and bruises happen.
Klingberg was a flop. But he's on LTIR. It's not like he spent a 2nd to acquire him.I’m not sure how one GM wasting assets at the deadline is any better than another.
Heck, Trev wasted $4 mill on Klingberg and is now paying for it at the deadline.
It’s hypocrisy to get mad that Trev can’t empty the cupboards because they’ve already been emptied. For the same purpose, just at different times.
If Trev had hit on that signing he wouldn't be giving away assets to fix the holes. Thats the point. But saying that, we don't know who was interested in signing in Toronto. We heard this week that Dumba was approached by the leafs but he chose f***ing Arizona lol so it's not quite that easy.Klingberg was a flop. But he's on LTIR. It's not like he spent a 2nd to acquire him.
Dubas spent years of draft capital on non difference makers and now its adding up. Point is - Tre can't spend if he doesn't have the ammunition. So ya, dubas is to blame.
Edmundson can apparently play RD as well which might mean swap Lily with Brodie.Rielly - Lyubushkin
Benoit - McCabe
Edmundson - Liljegren
Not sure where Brodie really fits here…
I dont disagree. But this whole notion why isn't Tre spending / trading for guys. We don't have a pipeline of young players or draft assets to move. Cupboards are dryIf Trev had hit on that signing he wouldn't be giving away assets to fix the holes. Thats the point. But saying that, we don't know who was interested in signing in Toronto. We heard this week that Dumba was approached by the leafs but he chose f***ing Arizona lol so it's not quite that easy.
But either way, Klingberg was an insane swing and miss. For that to be one of your first moves as the new GM, that can't happen again. He needs to find a way to recoup some of the assets going out the door too. Robertson is not going to get the time he needs in the top 6. It may be time to turn him into some draft picks who have a better chance to make the top 6 in 3 to 4 years time.
We have Brodie and McCabe, who can play both sides. He's redundant. Can play both sides which means flexibility.
Until 1950's Dino thinkers like Carlo keep talking, hockey will never move
He takes Liljegren’s or Brodie’s spot neither of who can box out or clear the crease. Not redundant. We have Brodie and McCabe, who can play both sides. He's redundant.
Colton Parayko is the same age and an inch taller. He is also a right handed dman that could've played with Rielly.
He probably also said the same thing about Benoit and Schenn.Didn't you also say that anyone who thought that Lybushkin is an asset was an idiot or didn't know hockey or something? And Boosh has looked pretty good.
Let's wait and see where we are on Friday. The high retention suggests that we might still be moving some pieces around.
Those picks were also to pay for retention and the cap space that left for more moves if the prices come down.We now just have a 6th and a 7th round pick in the 2025 draft, might as well fire all the scouts after the draft this year.
I'm not a fan of the moves so far - is Edmunson even better than Benoit?
We traded two thirds, a fifth and a sixth for Edmunson and Boosh - I would have preferred to have moved all of that for an actual difference maker. Or just kept the picks.
“Nylander would do flybys like Tom Cruise in Top Gun.” Classic………Yes sir.
All the people who say this is a dud trade same people who will cry when we have no assets left what so ever in the future.
Remember...
If Rempe came in without Reaves that night, our core 4 would've played timid and scared and Nylander would do flybys like Tom cruise in Top gun and 5'6 Domi wouldve been the one being Ragdolled.
You know it... I know it... We all Know it.
Just to point out how accurate this is, both of the picks traded for Edmundson were ones the Leafs acquired. The 3rd was the return for Engvall and the 5th we got in the McCabe trade with Chicago. Why are people worrying about trading mid to late round picks that can be picked up anytime for middling players or prospects?
No he isn't, I don't know how anyone watching this team could possibly say that. Benoit is getting better and better, Brodie is becoming unplayable most games.
father time catches up with all of us unfortunatelyTough to read about Brodie's demise, especially his speed. I live in Cgy and used to go to games early just to watch his skate in warmups. Such a silky smooth skater, like Scott Niedermayer. Getting old sucks LOL.
His first year here was actually as good as advertised.Tough to read about Brodie's demise, especially his speed. I live in Cgy and used to go to games early just to watch his skate in warmups. Such a silky smooth skater, like Scott Niedermayer. Getting old sucks LOL.
Lets not give Brad excuses now. He should learn to not miss on FA signings. Also he has Cowen, 1st, Minten, Lilly, Niemela to trade. More than enough. Whether he spends it on wrong players is the question. Brad can only blame himself. Dubas didn't cause Brad to have a weak off season.Klingberg was a flop. But he's on LTIR. It's not like he spent a 2nd to acquire him.

I think your right, but I’d rather sit, trade, waive Brodie, he shouldn’t play unless injuries occur……..I think Lil will sit.
