4 games in the span of 10 days here with the Oil. This could get heated fast. If we continue playing like the last two games we are in good shape. Our Leafs might be getting a shutdown mentality.

Interesting to see Yamamoto ranked so high but he has such a limited amount of data i would expect a very big error for his stats.

Same with Barrie but I'm guessing it is the last 3 years combined. Is that for 5 on 5 btw?

I think they might have hyman up with matthews and marner this game due to matchup with mcdavid.

Not sure we want thornton going up against him.

Are the Leafs still playing 7 D and 11 F?

I saw on CapFriendly that Spezza was assigned to the taxi squad yesterday. What's that about?

I read James Mirtle in the Athletic to the effect that the Leafs would max out the LTIR cap space by calling up contracts that fit like a puzzle -- players like Petan and whatnot -- before sending Robertson to LTIR, sending the puzzle pieces back down, and calling up Lehtonen and Barabanov on a more or less permanent basis. I haven't seen any of that happen, and I don't think it does happen with Lehtonen on the roster.

I don't understand why the Leafs have not yet taken steps to restore a 21-player roster.

It's interesting that coaches only need to figure out how to beat 6 other teams throughout the season vs. 30.

Keefe undoubtedly watched several videos of Oilers last 2 games vs Habs to figure out how to shutdown McDrai.

Must be tough being a Leaf fan there?

Not really, probably no different than being a Leaf fan anywhere else probably.

You hear the same old '67 jokes and "six-ty sev-en" chants. Memes and all that other bullshit. When the Leafs come to town Leaf fans are sandwiching Oiler fans, my poor Dad being an Oilers fan has me on one side, another Leaf fan on the other. Leafs games are fun here, but a Leafs home game is what I still havent experienced yet.

When i'm in hockey drafts and someone takes Matthews, Marner, etc. I'm the guy that goes "GREAT PICK!" followed by a "OH STFU! <insert real name>" Usually though they'll avoid Matthews or Marner and save the pick for me.

No games will be easy this year.

McDavid plays strongly against us. Tyson Barrie almost certainly going to pot one against us.

What this will come down to, is if Freddy can be a better goalie than Koskinen.[/QUOTE]
If Freddy can't, then there's something seriously wrong.

7-11 for sure yeah

He projects usage at all strengths so that includes PP production for Barrie.

Oilers are due. McDavid and Drai had a rough few games and love to play the Leafs. All I ask is the effort is there win or lose. Play with the same pace as the past few games.

Oilers haven't been good so far this year (1 win in 4 games), so this should be a W for us.

The Oiler's defense and goal tending still look a little suspect to me.
careful these games are the worst, I surely hope the leafs come out to win because no matter what, there are no 2 points to be mailed in by any team

If the Oilers end up stacking that top line with McDavid and LD, the Matthews' line just needs to make sure they match the production/minimize that lines'. Tavares-Nylander will have a field day with that 2nd line if they remove LD off of it.

Leafs are 3-1 and Matthews has been the least productive of the big 4 even though he's probably generated the most chances. He's due for a big game imo.
yea true, he has though carried the play on that line as he is everywhere, 1st on loose pucks even taking the body, puck possession and support is fantastic. I agree I hope his work ethic pays off, he surely has had good opportunities with a little misfortune of them not going in
