Such a dumb and lazy play by Bouchard. If you want to hit a guy use your shoulder. To make a play like that not near your net or during a quality scoring chance in the last 5 minutes of a playoff game is pathetic.
He didn't take into account that Moore is 5'8 on his best day and was slouched over besides. it's the same reason Yamamoto is good at drawing penalties. A play that's a shot in the arm of a fully grown man ends up as a glove in the face on Moore and the way the game was being called they weren't going to let it slide, unless it's an OT elbow in the face.

Dumb play by Bouchard for sure, which is a shame because he had a hell of a game besides.

The only thing that slowed down McDavid was McDavid.

Makar, Rantenan and MacK make that moot.
Assuming they can stay healthy. If so than yes, you would be 100% correct

I guess if you want to assume Fiala and Vilardi are in you need to assume Colorado stays healthy. Which to your point makes Colorado the better team

Yet you have a guy in here saying that's not a penalty at all, under any circumstance.....lol go figure

I think in the context of the game I'd argue it's often not called in a tight physical game with 2 minutes remaining. I don't think it's a bad call, and I don't think you can fault a ref for calling that, although I honestly do understand the frustration.

For me though that frustrations more pointed on the refs not calling some of the other ones they let go.

That being said, let me be clear, the Oilers didn't deserve to win. They had two 2 goal leads in the third period and the Kings had nothing. You have to nurse that game home and the Oilers not doing that is just not good enough, even if the refs give the Kings 10 third period PPs.

That loss has to hurt for the Oilers. For the first two periods they played almost a perfect game and had it totally in control.
And then in the third period some bad habits re-emerged. Undisciplined play, poor D and spotty goaltending cost them in the game.
The good news for them is that McDavid has yet to make his presence felt and you know he will be better next game even against a tough LA team.

I would go one further and say if the Kings didn't take advantage of that and take this W, they'd be absolutely f***ed.

Why is everyone bitching about the powerplays? We took three idiotic stick infractions we didn't need to take and put the 4th best PP in the league on a parade to the ozone. I hope the team is blaming themselves rather than the refs, because if we clean that up we are fine. Literally it's a 1-0 series lead if you eliminate Kane and Bouch idiotic garbage, or McDavid blind throwing up pancakes into the slot 4v4.

YOu can be this is all they're talking about in the team meetings. That discipline was the difference between the win and the loss and was a factor in the Edmonton losses in the series last year, as well. Nurse is a guy that comes unhinged when he's overly engaged, Bouchard tried too hard to play tough and overdid it, other guys were simply too aggressive with their sticks. If they can tie that back up, and McDavid gets focused-angry like he did last year, it'll probably be a repeat of the Game 2 slaughterhouse if not as pronounced.

Kings needed to know they could play in this series though.

It did. Even before the playoffs the Stars weren’t a concern for me and I was hoping they’d win the division. Sadly it’s not going to happen.
The Stars are probably the best complete team from their defense, goalie and forwards. I don't really see any bad lines, as long as Pavelski is healthy, they will have a good chance at beating whoever.

How thick do your homer goggles have to be to actually believe this? None of those were penalties, you actually think Draisaitl was tripped? He just got outmuscled in a puck battle. You seriously comparing these to a clear cross check to the face and taking down a guy going in on an odd men rush?

The only penalty on that play is holding the stick. Draisaitl got outmuscled and fell, Kopitar's stick wasn't even on the ice. I think it hilarious Oilers fans made something like this when it clearly shows that it's not a penalty.

Yup. He also overlooked the non-call on Nurse with the slash which was immediately followed up with a cross-check to Doughty's fore arms. (or maybe he did acknowledge it?, I haven't scanned back 58 pages.)

Didn’t stop the Oilers from beating them like a rented mule a couple of times. Every time I watched them play they were so underwhelming. If Minnesota wins game two they’re toast.

Edmonton skill wise can beat any team in the league in a series.
Mental ability and discipline wise, any team in the league can take Edmonton in the series.

Edmonton is the most beat yourself team I have seen in forever. Most of their losses this year is plain stupid f***ing plays from guys who got cocky. McDavid trying to "help a friend out" to get a hattrick leads to him passing when he should shoot which directly leads to a goal against.
Boys try and play physical but instead take undisciplined stick infractions that get called all day that lead to goals against.

This team refuses to put teams away. Doesn't matter if you are crushing a team in all metrics halfway into the game, a 2 goal lead is nothing and its your responsibility to keep trying to win. Slowing down and getting cocky is a surefire way to blow it.

Game 2 is the crucial one here. If Edmonton blows game 2 I don't see them bouncing back and winning the series. I don't think they have the ability to do that. ESPECIALLY as the team with more home games. They like to let the fans down in person.

Refs had nothing to do with the outcome. This game, like many for EDM, came down to whether or not the other team could slow down McDavid.
I laughed; the refs had EVERYTHING to do with the outcome. The tying goal (on a borderline call at best) AND the winning goal in OT (ditto) were both PP goals. The gambling companies will be delighted...

Seems the Oilers have a hard time coping when the intensity ramps up. They don’t seem to be mentally strong enough. The kings winning goal is a huge example of this as we saw Nurse’ brain completely shut down - where he panicked and left the shooter to score the east goal, while he decided to block a passing lane to no one.

Those were penalties. Should have locked the game up early when you were dominating. It's not on the refs to help you hold on when you take the foot off the pedal.

He played very well but sometimes you have to take the game situation into account and know not to take risks like that also. I know it's easy for me to say when I am not on the ice and involved in the play at full speed. He just didn't need to make that play at all, I guess that is my biggest problem with it. If it's 10 minutes into the 1st period maybe you make that play, not with 5 minutes in the third with a lead.

Is this some weird complaint that Trevor Moore has an unfair advantage because he's a manlet?
