Complacency is a great team's worst nightmare. I'm glad Calgary started putting up points at the end. Should drive in the point that the Esks can't let up for one second.

Totally agree. That little splurge by the Stamps could serve as a very good lesson.

Jones was still chewing out #34 Hinds after they were walking off the field at the end of the game. Coaching never stops.

Messam proved why he's bounced around the league. Came up mediocre and wanting in the big game. I'm glad he's not on our team any more.

Good. We still have one more game to go this year, and these guys need to be reminded the big prize still is out there, and lots more work to be done.

RedBlacks have beaten every team in the league except the Eskimos. Might have to fight some fate too

Wow TSN is sure pumping up the Redblacks.

Of course. At times I thought the Western Final was a Stampeders broadcast. We're the home team and they spent more time in Stamps dressing room, watching stamps enter field, interviews with stamps etc.

Not till the game was a foregone conclusion did they focus on the Esks much at all.

It's almost like we didn't play yesterday and it's just a shame that our teams never get any respect.

Strange interpretation.

Messam last week had 150 all purpose yds and the most of any Stampeder in helping them get past the Leos. Yesterday Messam had over 100 all purpose yds.

He was the biggest weapon the injury hampered Stamps had in the playoffs.

Not a bad player. Not a bad performance.

Hardly what you are categorizing above.

Gotcha. One has to remember the Macciocia era turned away a lot of fans. A lot of loyal longterm fans were sickened by that era. I can understand it.

fosho. Another factor is, I believe, the Eskimos have done a terrible job in the last 20 years of attracting the younger fan. They didn't need to in my (and your) day because there wasn't much NFL on TV (in my case, out in rural Alberta, there was none!!). So we were, naturally, CFL and Eskimo fans.

You go to games in the bottom section, and security is telling to sit down, be quiet. They discourage a party atmosphere. they have catered to the 1960s season ticket holders.

When I was in my 20s, me and my buddies went to almost every game (probably the same for you and others over 40). It was a social event (heck, it was a good place hook up!!). None of my nephews, nor my daughter, ever go to games.

In short, the Esks, and the CFL in general, have lost a generation.

I get that this as an Eskimo thread but as an Eskimo fan even I can recognize that the RedBlack story is a great story.

Of course that team is going to be a media darling.

How can you honestly be surprised or annoyed by that?

In any event I dont see this as being a problem at all...as a matter of fact I see it as an advantage for the Esks to be able to avoid the bulk of the media attention.

As an Esks fan you should be thankful. :D

might have to fight the refs, you mean.
the way burris can air the ball, I'm thinking the esks are going to get flagged for a lot of phantom PI penalties.

I know other people have said it, and I agree with the fact it is likely going to happen.

I hope the REDBLACKS get all the air time and everyone wants to interview Hank. It will inflate his ego, if that's even possible, and it will help us.

Calgary was going to slaughter the Lions whether they had Messam or Pee Wee Herman in the backfield. They desperately wanted to have another shot, and their defence and Mitchell brought it the whole day against an overwhelmed Lions team. He had a chance yesterday to turn it up against the big boys. His performance yesterday was mediocre to bad. 53 yards rushing on 13 carries? Out -averaged by the so-called non Eskimo running game with Shavers? 2 fumbles, one that was not called by incompetent officiating and the other not called for a TD. And getting the **** kicked out of him at the end so he couldn't finish the game. Even Chris Jones said, he can be tough to bring down, but good tackling usually solves that, and then getting him to go east west, as he is not that fast. Not sure what you call that kind of performance, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't call it good. Mitchell and Rogers are the drivers for that team. If Cornish manages to make it back playing next year, I wonder if Messam can hook up with a 7th team?

Have to agree with this. Too many people getting their shorts in a knot over Redblacks getting extra love and attention. As you said, it's totally predictable and understandable. An expansion team that was worst in the league last year going to the GC the very next year. Not sure that has ever happened. And everyone loves an underdog, as they surely will be. The Eskimos just need to continue to channel that lack of attention to their game, and make Ottawa a nice feelgood afterthought next Sunday night.

I was at the game and couldn't see, but I heard the hit that messam took that laid him out was a helmet to helmet hit. if that's the case you can't really call him out on that.

Not calling him out for that per say, but to hear some of the earlier comments before the game, you'd swear he was Goliath and was going to tear us a new one. My point is, is that even the biggest toughest dudes go down, despite the rhetoric.

The Esks just stomped the best team in the CFL and the defending champs. Not a chance they lose to Ottawa.

There's always a chance. Anybody else remember the 81 Grey cup against Ottawa? A lot close than anyone would have guessed.
