Really like the player, be interesting where they slot him into, given his preference to play in the leftorium.. Hopefully there is a plan in place. ;)
Considering how well Nurse-Kulak have played together, it wouldn't surprise me if they go

Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Kulak
Walman-Emberson

Hope would be to have 3 pairings you're comfortable having out there at any time.

Reaction to this trade confirms that there's no winning with some of you.

NJ paid a 2ND for BRIAN DUMOULIN with jack hughes out for the playoffs. TB paid TWO 1sts for Gourde and Bjorkstrand.

Good deal. I don't think the goalie trade happens, but I'm still hopeful for another F addition if we can send some money back.

Some seem to still think that a 1st = stud coming back the other way.

As you highlighted, it’s not hard to look at deals around the league and realize that this is at least going rate for a lower end top 4 with another year on his deal. If anything that’s value compared to the 1sts that have been thrown around for mid lineup rentals lately.

Wings fan here and I'm f***ing furious. Always liked Walman. We traded him and a 2nd for future considerations and SJ just flipped him to Edmonton for a 1st. So someone knows something Yzerman doesn't or what in the entire f***?!
It seemed weird when the wings made the move. He had a down year that season, but he could clearly play, I don't know that seider did better without him.

Don't worry about what the Oilers paid, they paid the deadline, extra year premium.

He spent most of his time in DET with Seider (mixed results, one year great, the next was trash). He also ate a ton of PK minutes too, which has been an issue with Klingberg in the lineup.

I can't help but feel like this breaks up Ekholm-Bouchard. The two of them haven't been as good together this year, and (imo) both would with benefit from better skaking partners. Ekholm-Emberson is an easy one, while I imagine they'll give Kulak and Walman a look with Bouch.

Imo I like Kulak with Bouch or Nurse, but I can see Walman working well next to Nurse. While I like Kulak's speed there, Nurse did well with both Barrie and Bear, two slower(ish) guys who controlled the play well.

Reactions: Oilhawks
The pick will surely be conditional in the sense that San Jose will get a different one if the Oilers somehow end up drafting in the top 5 for that particular year.

But eh, good middle pairing guys with term cost a lot.
The 1st we traded this year is conditional- if our first this year is in the top 12, Philly gets our first next year instead. Since that is technically still possible, I assume we had to include a condition to address that possibility (i.e. if Philly gets our 2026 first, they get the 2027).

I cant see Emberson being fed 1st pairing minutes. That wouldnt go well.
